Do you guys take digital cameras riding with you? Even if I leave it in the truck, it will get cold. Do I have anything to worry about?

I always take mine riding and just keep it in an inside pocket. I havn't had a problem yet and this is the third season for it. The only downfall is that the battery doesn't last as long in the cold.

i took my camera when i went skiing last friday, and there were no problems with it. i'm going to take it this saturday when i go snowmobiling, so i'd imagine i'll see the same results.
of course, it may also depend on the camera. some might be built better for winter temps than others. i'd say do some research into your camera model and find out if it'll be fine

I take my digital all the time with me, I keep it in an inside pocket and I use rechargable Duracell Nimh(whatever that is) batteries...They work great and never had any problems with my camera shutting down in the cold!

Battery life in cold weather will be your biggest battle.
I heard the Duracell Nimh??? batterys tend to do better in cold temps.
So if its real cold keep it on an inside pocket and/or thow a handwarmer in there.
Thats how I rock my point and shoot!

I used to keep my Cybershot in the chest poscket of my coat but on the first really cold ride it was drained by noon. I tend to break it out and snap any time we pause on the trail but after after moving it to the front chest pocket on my bibs where its comepletely protected by my jackets insulater and shell I've never had the cold effect it.
