Rode Friday, Saturday and Sunday in the Snowies. They need snow. Did manage to find some untracked after extensive "logging."

Probably the coolest thing of the weekend was seeing this guy stick his RMK 2/3 the way up the widow maker. His buddy climbed down and helped him dig it out and get it turned around and he got bucked off as he was trying to sidehill and get it pointed back down. Dude almost beat his sled to the bottom. Sled ghost rode down the whole way and hit nothing. Pretty lucky as there are some hugegantic boulders at the bottom. Widow maker was tracked up and hard as a rock as were most of the chutes.

Two weeks ago we watched a guy tumble his sled down the little chute in that picture. Sled went end over end many times and looked like a pop can when it got to the bottom. He almost slid down the rock face in that pic but he got himself stopped and went to the right down the main part.

I can't even count how many people I have seen attack that mountain and loose their sleds. It eats quite a few a year. Especially when the steep top part is powder. Seperates the men from the boys. When it is hard packed most mountain sleds will go over the top.

Yeah, when you are sitting at the bottom, it doesn't look all that bad, but once you are pulling it, its a different story. It is deceivingly steep. We were there for a short time and saw two sleds come down without riders. A guy we ride with totalled out his Summit 1000 on it this year. One of the locals we talked to said it is something like a 1500 ft elevation difference from bottom to top, and its not that long of a pull, so that's pretty steep. They said the top usually cornices up something fierce. It's hard to photograph exactly how steep it is but here is a picture taken to the left of it.
