Looking for trail conditions in St. Michel, the park and Manawan. Anyone ridden there this weekend. Set to leave this coming weekend and would like to know the truth.

Thanks

Just got back today....and well...its riding! Not for the faint of heart, I would call it late, late spring conditions at best. Lots of rocks, dirt, and ice. Traffic is unbelievable!! I have to give a two thumbs up to the guys grooming....they are doing a GREAT job with what they have...(NOTHING). They have gotten no new snow to speak of and there is none in the forcast except for flurries. The farther south west you head the worse it gets. North toward Lac Saint Jean sounds like it is good, I haven't been, but might head up that way on the 4th of Feb. We rent a house up there for the season and that is the only reason we have been riding. The out-lying trails really aren't marked that well, and some not at all, so it is good to ride with someone that know the territory some. Riding during the weekdays are better(less traffic). Its rough on runners and slides...but they aren't that expensive to replace. One of the guys in our group did get his cab cracked on his new Rev due to a rock coming off a oncoming sleds skis...that is going to be expensive to replace.
Good luck

We went from St-Come, Coin Lavigne entrance...Rouge Matawin for Breakfast, headed out on the 33 towards Lac Taureau and then onto Manawan. Ran 419.4 KMS.

The first 60 KMS in the parc was 7/10 . The trail between Rouge Matawin and Lac Taureau was varying between 7/10 and 9/10, some really nice stretches. Try to stay away from Glaciere, StMichel..Cabanon. Too much traffic. From LacTaureau onto Manawan, there was about 3kms of crappy trails, and then, I felt as though I was in ABITIBI region, fast well groomed trails, alittle ice from time to time, but nothing crazy, I would say 9/10 for the most part.

We took the same route back, got shitty in the parc until st come, but we expected that.

No worries, take the trip. Thats as honest as a report you will ever get !!

Cheers!

Thanks for the honest reporting. Would love to hear a more favorable report, but not all winters are like last one.
