It's my friends sled.
He cant keep up on the trails and its all over the place bottoming out constantly.

looking for the easiest upgrade possible.
like a direct bolt in rear suspension, or close to direct bolt in.

here's the sled in question..
thanks!

How does he have the rear ajusted. It may need to be set stiffer or need new rear shocks/springs. How big is he. Is it a extra 10 or 12.I have a 96 xlt extra 10 and i'm 6'3 325 and never bottom out. It did when i first bought it it did, but the guy i bought it from wieghted 175 so i had to adjust the rear spring........Hope this helps

the best bet is to go with an extra 10. You will need to move the support plates and drill new holes but it is not a big deal. There are specs on my site for it. Get a skid with fox shocks. FOr extra smooth ride non agressive get the PPS shock as well.

like he ^^^ said, well worth swapping out the old xtra nuttin suspension,to an XTRA10 skid.
its like night and day!!check ski alignment also. plastic skis help the darting problem, alignment is key.

thanks gang.

so the track that is on it currently (stock) will work with the new xtra10 ???
PolarisMike
Yes, the same track will work (121x15). I installed and xtra-10 on my boys 1988 Indy Sport this past summer. He says it is a night and day difference.

Sweet, I'm sure I'll have more questions when the process starts.
I might send you a pm unless you stick around this thread.

Thanks for the info!
I can't wait to ride this sled and see the difference.

That's one sexy sled!!! Got to love the XLT Special!!

I swapped my stock suspension for an extra 12...a world of difference, I mean, night and day as said above...I've heard good things about the xtra-10 also, but I prefer the comfort of the 12 for the trails I ride.

I'm not a really aggresive rider, but love deep powder...I have never bottomed out, ever...not a hard install, and absolutely worth the money and time...

If you want some pics, take a look here..
