Just back from my Yamaha dealer for hyfax change and they informed me it had a recall. The bolt that some on here were saying backs out was recalled. The dealer takes off the nut and loct-tites it to solve the problem.

U got the actually torque spec, and colour of loctite?
My dealer wants me to drive my sled there and back (110 miles) for this stupid thing. LOL.
I'll call and see if he can e-mail, or fax the bulletin over.

Give him a break, not everyone works on their own sleds.
I cant believe Yamaha didnt Loc-tite that from the factory. Must have been someone's first day on the job over in Japan...

I do work on my own sled. The only reason I had the dealer change my Hyfax kiddo is that Yami put the damn screws on so tight I couldn't get them off. The dealer let me screw the new ones in so I can get them out myself next time. I've changed over 20 sets of hyfax over the last 5 years or so. The Phazer was for the wife. Took her out on it for the first time last weekend. She doesn't like it and after getting sick and tire of all the ice build up from the stupid open tunnel I just traded it. And not for a Yammi either.

yup, so far it's been :
cracked exhausts
air box fasteners ripping off and getting sucked into the motor
burning hyfax
bent spindles
broken rear skids
no start in the cold
hole in rear tunnel causing ice
not enough power
overheating
man, sounds like one JUNKY sled. tell your buddy I'll give him $1500.

I'll even drive from Ontario.
I found a way to fix the tunnel icing (cost me 9$ at Canadian Tire) :

How do you fix the icing tunnel... Please share. Will the fix work on my wife's Vector?

I just threw a piece of 1/16" aluminum over the hole, covering it up...
The only side effect is more power due to a hotter exhaust pipe. Damn!

Yamaha offers tunnel panels to cover the sides where the ice builds up. Just ordered some for mine and Dads. 100 miles so far and absolutely love the thing, and I came off a REV Renegade with 114" track. Just not as fun as this thing, and that is what snowmobiling is supposed to be, right??
