I was there this past friday, and the ice looked pretty thin in the inlet where docklunch is. Cant say exactly how much ice is out there but they are callin for some cold nights later this week which should help, but i dont know exactly how much is out there i didnt see any sled tracks out there though.

Just got off the phone with my father-in-law in Honey Harbour/South Bay. Ice conditions are very unpredictable in the area. They checked the ice in one of the small bays by the Cove Marina and there was 5" of ice with no snow on top, and 2" of ice where there was snow on top. He recommends we stay off for another week until we get some more cold nights. Not worth the risk. Penatang Bay is a pretty large body of water to freeze and the wind can change the conditions pretty quick. The other problem is that there is only about 6" of snow in the area.
From what I undrstand the best place to ride is from Angus North-West to Collingwood, and over to Owen Sound. Most of the snow in the past week fell south of Georgian Bay. I rode from Barrie to New Lowell on Saturday and the conditions only got better as we headed North-West. I had a relative from Owen Sound here in Barrie on Sunday, and she said they have twice as much snow as Barrie and we have over 12".
