I was in Pittsburg and Colebrook this weekend and I have had it with my helmet shield fogging up. I have seen sprays, head sock type systems, anti fog shields, as well as electric shields. Are any of these systems a good replacement for an electric shield, or is going electric the best? I just want to do this once and have it over with. Also, I have a KBC helmet and I can't seem to find an electric shield for it? Does anyone make a universal or do any of you know who sells an electric shield for a KBC?

Electric shield is the only way to go. It doesn't hurt to carry a spare cord either.

Electric shield or moto cross helmet with goggles, only way to never have fog again. Once you get a heated shield you will wonder how you could ever ride without one.

Electric shield... Best money I've ever spent on snowmobiling...

electric is the way to go but they aren't foolproof. had to install a spare sheild on a trip last week after one side died(4 year old shield) and I had a cord ripped off by a tree last year so carry a spare.

KBC does not show a heated shield on there site you'd have to see if mounting system is similar to one of the others or spend $150 and get an HJC with one.

You should definitely look into the TXi helmet from AC. I have one with an electric shield and have never needed to plug it in! I've ridden in some cold temps (-20) and it was still fine. I rode in Maine this past weekend (-11 in the morning) and it stayed clear all day.

I'm sure I would need the electric shield if I rode in wet, icy conditions where the outside of the shield starts icing up.

I know this may sound rediculous, but use shaving GEL and just wipe it on and off with a paper towel. It is an old hockey player trick we used for our sheilds, and it works awesome.

How difficult is it to wire the shield receptacle to a sled? I need to put one a polaris.

Usually there is a spare accesory plug in somewhere in the wiring harness. Just tap into that if you can find it.

Electric is the only way to go. I have never found a spray that worked although I have not tried shaving gel. (What Brand?)

If you have an electric start sled wire the cord so it is on all the time. Use a 5 amp fuse. Most auxillary plugs come on only when the engine is running. The electric shield does not draw much current so if you stop for while leave it plugged in and when you start up again you wont fog up right when you put your helmet on.

An electric shield is about as important as the helmet itself. It soes not take me 1 mile to figure out I forgot to plug the cord in after a stop.... Why bother with exotic masks and chemicals if you can just plug it in and roll....
