Both my '02 700 & 800 Summits have "heated" Mikuni TM carbs with the little red valve to turn on/off the coolant flow. My question is when, or at what temperature would I use this and actually heat the carbs? I've been sleddin' for about 4 years now (at temps down to -8F), and have never used this option. Please help a newbie out.....Thanks.

Some people including myslef just took the things off. Plugged the hoses and never looked back. I had it in -13 in Montana and never had a problem. Makes changing jets much easier. If you have problems just put the hoses back on and forget it ever happened but it looks like you wont.

It really depends on the snow conditions, temperature, terain and such. It is extremely rare to need them, but I find that I rarely have to change jets with the DPM, so I leave it on. You might never need it, and most people never turn them on unless they are having icing problems, but you might need it one day and I am not concerned about leaving it on.
I wouldn't worry about using it unless things are freezing up.
