We were going to hit that area last night, took off from St. Albans and headed towards Richford, bailed of the rail trail at FN26 to take 105 E down to Montgomery.... Mistake... Stuff was nasty, rutted, there had been some logging, very slow drive all the way to Mongomery. The plan was to loop through Westfield and up over Jay but it was just to slow going so we had to cut the loop short and take 120N back to Richford and rail trail it home...

There was plenty of snow in the woods, I think the trail is just Naturally rough and it will take ALOT more snow to make that area good. The fields and roads weren't all to bad, the wind has filled all the ruts in the plowed fields so they are pretty good.

We picked up a groomer on the backside of Jay and even groomed the trails were a little slow going...

Good news though, barely any open water... most of it was freezing hard...

Is 120 over Jay usually a smooth ride even with little snow? I may give that a whirl one night this week?

Plenty of snow but no grooming (as of last night) Only encountered 5 or 6 wet spots in a 100 mile loop. Starting in Albany up through Newport Center, Jay,Westford,Troy,Coventry and back to Albany. Good snow cover, corn fields not too bad, the woods can be a little rough. Good "early season" conditions. Another foot and we are golden.

Overall trails in Newport Center Westfield Troy Were in Very good shape for the lack of snow. Went out Saturday did just under 40 miles with the family it was very cold but the trails were better than I expected. My son an I went out for about 60 this morning and found a surprise that all of the trails had been groomed.(The Country Riders did a great job of grooming with the little snow that they had to work with) The fields around Newport Center and Troy were smooth and fast for the most part. The woods were a little boney but with a little more snow they will be mint. Thanks guys for the better than expected trails.

I went out to Norton Sat and then went to Jay area on Sunday. I had to go aroung Memphremagog, so it took us about 2 hours to get to Jay. It was def alot better in the Norton area though. Once I got to Newport center, the trails werent too bad.
