Thanks for posting these maps. I've found the UP Michigan map to be spot on, at least where I've tried it out in the Western UP!

I also just down loaded and installed the Grayling-Gaylord map, as well as the Cadillac map. Those appear to be a compilation of someone's tracks from an entire year of riding (or at least a couple weekends). The tracks are too numerous and too close to each other and have too many deadends to be only marked snowmobile trails. They are still really helpful and I'll use them, I just want other users not familiar with those areas to realize not all of those tracks are marked trails.

Keep up the good work.

Also, if anyone might ever be interested, I've asked the Indiana DNR to send me the gps tracks of all the Indiana trails (all 5 of them). If they agree to my request I'll post them in this forum. I know the DNR gps'd all the trails in order to get an accurate reading of mileage and to provide updated maps for signed trail leases. Would be nice if they shared them.

I also loaded the Grayling trails and it's too clutered. My question is, how do you delete them from the GPS?

Upload a new mapset...it will erase the current map.

I also had these areas loaded in my GPS and had it in my truck as we blew thru town ( actually spent the night in downtown Grayling ). Looked like whoever submitted these tracks never turned his GPSr off and recorded every little ride they took around the blocks and down every little street. Pretty much made me laugh. I think I'll stick with the wide open spaces of the UP !! rws's UP map rocks though !!

I'll redo the lower Michigan maps when I get more trail data.

rws,

I installed your NY data (green) on my Legend and it looks very good!
I was going to submit some of my NY tracks for your database but it looks like the state provided trails are more accurate. I had a lot of dead ends and turnarounds anyway that would have needed editing. I couldn't get a paper statewide corridor trail map this year but it seems to match the old one almost perfectly.

You da man

Do you know if they will be updating their NY database every year?

The person I corresponded with at the Clearinghouse said they have an updated database that will be released as soon as funding is approved.

Which map are you looking for in particular? I'll be updating some of them soon and could start with the one you want.

He took it down, I think he may redo a more current one sometime in the future. He really knows what he is doing, I don't know how he figured all this out but if you go through the posts you can see that he has helped a lot of people get their tracks converted into maps. I think the programs have changed a little bit from the video and was creating even more confusion so he took it down. I hope he gets the new one up for you though.

I have a Garmin 60CSx and I love it. I bought it last year and would consider myself an amateur as far as knowing its capabilities. I bought it as a safety feature for when we went out West snowmobiling (first time last year) in case we needed to backtrack. I tried to open your video tutorial on this post and it said it was "forbidden" (looks like other people are seeing this as well). Is this still available? Do you have any suggestions on any capabilities I could use when out West snowmobiling the back country?

Anybody have some maps or tracks of the Island Park, Idaho area???

Thanks, Ryan

I plan on updating the map making tutorial some time in the future.
