Hey Folks

Just found this site. Not many that cover the Black Hills. Have to decide by Saturday whether to go th the Black Hills, or Hurley WI on the 25th. Lots rather ride in the hills, but the snow sounds marginal. But if the trails are groomed, it's just as good as Hurley anyway, cuz there is no off trail there. Staying on trails all day bores me. So is there decent snow out there? Hear so many different things. Thought we could wait till after the weekend for reports, but my buddy has to get his sleds jetted on sunday if we come to the hills. Anyone have the real scoop? Thanks.

Kyle, I just got an email from Terrypeak.com telling me they just recieved 8 inches of new snow. If you have ridden in the hills before you know that Terry peak is on the way up to Rec Springs and Trails Head lodge so this in right in the middle of the trails section. According to the SDGFP site the trails are all groomed and most have reported recieving between 4-7 inches of new snow. Off trail riding has been good according to the site so I would think you will be happy to ride the hills this weekend. They are forecasting 50% chances of snow in that area this weekend also. Hope this helps you in your decisions...

Kyle,

Black Hills Trail Conditions can be checked at:

http://www.sdgfp.info/parks/recreation/sno...ailconHills.asp

Todays update says yesterday (Jan 17th) the northern and central hills recevied 26" of new snow, 18" in the lead/deadwood areas, and 0-8" in the southern hills. This is on top of 6-12" that the trails received 2 days ago. Conditions should be excellent for the next couple weeks at least.
