Sat the MSA and the soo club had a trail stop in Raco. I bet i saw about 300 sleds from 11am till 3pm..Most riders knew it was first snow and rode accordingly...most were happy just to be out on their sleds...its was a cold day...it started out about 0 and reached about 17...all in all it was a good day..

My Dad just called from I-75 & M-123, he is enroute to my Grandma's in Brimley. Said he'll call tomorrow after he walks out to the trail behind her house.

Seems those that went had a good time, and made the best of it. And that's what it's all about.

Here are some REALLY WORLD pics from Hulbert yesterday afternoon compliments of Biskit:

We stayed at the casino in Brimley. When you got away from Brimley it got real thin on the snow. We stayed within 20 miles and used the 2 track and the orv trails and had a good time. Better than what we expected. Needed to try out a 440 MXZ before my son will race it if and when we will get snow. All and all we had a good time.

Tried, I repeat, Tried to ride in the Fredric, Kalkaska, Mancy area's today...........Only got 8 miles
in before all the sleds were either overheated or very close to it. Rock hard 2 inches was some of
the most we found....... no.gif

Ya, may be able to go tomorrow, as they are going to get hit tonight,I may even head out to meredith tomorrow, for a ride
sayatodaU.P.eh?
9&10 news last night was not calling for any, I repeat ANY significant snow fall for up there for tonight or into
tomarrow from what I remember. And no, I was not drunk.....

Hey Turbo, we were out driving around in your neck of the woods this afternoon. I just couldn't remember
exactly what road you were on or otherwise I would have made the boys stop in and say hi! thumbsup.png
CatGirlTammy
We found some pretty good conditions Saturday around Starvation Lake. Trails were snirty in areas but we were able to find plenty off-trail.

Trails did not hold up well at all from yesterday. Most of the really good stuff we got into was off trail...just have to know where to go to find it. Wanted to go out again today but there wasn't much to work with to get there.

We rode around the pine stump area and the trails were near dirt! But the back woods was pretty good, around 8'' of snow.
green team7
Tammy, that snow looks pretty damn good. I was 10 miles south of there right off Lake Manistee this past weekend and there was nothing rideable on or off trail. I guess lake effect is pretty hit or miss. Would have never guessed there was rideable snow up there. Good to hear you were able to ride.

What he said... We counted 300 + sleds on Saturday between 3 pm and 6 pm on trail 8 from pine Stump to Grand Marais... We went all the way to Grand Marias today ( sunday ) .. overall the trail was in great shape with ice on the tight corners and small rocks when you got closer to grand marias.......

Came across 2 HCS'rs from OHIO ( Sorry guys forgot names White Ford truck 2 sleds in covered trailer ) They just arrived and were at pine stump checking the conditions so they can ride all week..... Looked like the Grand Marias groomer hit the trail last night so it was smooth for us this morning....

Most of the snow is just inland from the lake shore and gets light around M-28 and south.... So stay north no matter where you go this week...

We stopped just short of The Hideaway and decided to keep moving north with the trucks. Ended up stopping
right at the junction of Manistee Lake Rd(I think  )and Trail 79 intersection. Nothing in any direction
for a few miles there. Just a 2" crust.... getlost.png

This is my area!!! hyper.gif
the hideaway is about 2 miles from my cabin.

We are going up this week. Even if I can only ride up and down my own road and the other off trail areas, it will be nice to get away from the city.

We stayed between C38 and The Hideaway most of the day. We even found some really cool new off-trail sites to ride in addition to the ones we already knew. Seems like our cabin is right in the middle of the .belt there. We will see horrible conditions on the way up and then the snow starts getting thick as we get close to the cabin.

Heading home yesterday afternoon, it was just as you said.....a few miles down the road and there was nothing rideable.

We'll be back up Thursday night too. Hopefully they'll get some of this system going thru now. We'll head to the U.P. if they don't.

Come on UP Cat Girl... We got an additional 3-4 inches of fresh powder and its snowing again this morning ( 8:30 am )... The trails out at pine stump were frozen underneath so there is a good base........... You probably will want to trailer out from the towns unless we get dumped on some more...

How are the trails holding up between Newberry and Wetmore?

Trail 8 From pine Stump to grand marais is great..... Until you get to Grand Marais... We had gravel in the campground next to the lake shore.. but made in for lunch yesterday,,,, We saw quite a few riders coming from Munising but didnt talk with anyone.. but they made it... You should be in great shape as were getting lake effect with most of the snow from Paradise to Marquette....
