HELLO

AFTER MANY YEARS OF TRAIL RIDING ON POLARIS XC'S I BROKE DOWN AND BOUGHT AN 03' RX-1 MOUNTAIN WITH 1200 MILES FOR $3600.
I WANT TO RIDE THIS SLED ABOUT 50% TRAIL 50% BACK COUNTRY/MOUNTAIN AND BOONDOCKING.

MY QUESTION IS HOW TO SET THIS SLED UP FOR THIS PURPOSE? ARE THE 2'' LUGS TOO LARGE? ARE THE SKIS SUITABLE FOR THE TRAILS?
HOW SHOULD I SET UP THE FRONT AND REAR SUSPENSION?

I AM TOTALLY NEW TO YAMAHA AND ANY HELP ON THIS MATTER WOULD BE APPRECIATED

Welcome but you'll need to go to www.totallyamaha.com and go to the fourstroke forum. Then go to Mountain RX/RS forum and there my friend you will have everyhting you need to read for weeks.

I have a 03 Rx-1 mountain I use very similarly to the way you plan to use yours. I go by Frostbite (Frosty) over there. Send me a PM and I'll hook you up.

The best thing about your 03 is the motor. The rest will need work, a lot of work but once again the pull of this motor makes it all worth while.

What mods does the sled have?
