rode yesterday for the first time this year and first time with my 2000mxz500liquid it ran great all day but whenever i shut it off i found it hard to start it often took 7 or 8 pulls after sitting for 3 or 4 minutes, i didn't use the choke to start it as i thought the choke was only for cold starts only. when i start my sled from cold at the start of the day i use a full choke for 5 seconds till it starts then a half choke for about 30 seconds.

check your carb boots!!!! the rubber seperates from the metal and they APPEAR to look good. move them carbs up and down and look for any rubber seperation.

my 02 mxz 800 does the same thing, if i just squezze the throttle a tiny bit and pull at the same time it starts first pull everytime, if i dont use the throttle a little i have to pull 5 or 6 times, just dont use too much throttle for obvious reasons

I only use the choke when the engine is cold . When it's warm it needs a bit of gas to start up . All the liquid ski-doo's i've seen are this way .

My 2001 is the same as well, boots where replace 3ys ago and it still does it!!!!!!!!!!!!
Oh, do you have to pull the full lenght of the cord too?
I have friends that have Cats and Poos and they pull 1/3 of the cord and start every time (that just sucks, lol)!

yep full length of the cord for me to, i have a polaris also, and on it you can sit on the damn thing and give the cord a little tug and it starts, but on my ski doo, i have to stand next to it and give it a little gas while i pull, it sucks

I have to do this on my 500F. Primer 2 times and full choke and 2 pulls to start cold. Warm soak it takes full throttle and 2 - 4 pulls to start. Maybe the needle valve stuck open a little? It also gets bad gas milage, about 9 mpg.

Had a 500 that did the same thing and it was the seals in the lower end. They suck air when it is shut down. After new seals it would not do that agian.

my 2000 700 always needed to have a little bit of throttle applied to start, but I also had the idle pretty low. Double check your idle speed.

Sounds like the carbs need to be updated, larger pilot jets and fuel screw adjusted.

both of the ski-doo's in my garage need a little throttle to start, after a hot shutdown.
both of them also have primers, no chokes.

My 700 will usually start 1st pull once warmed up,no throttle. If it does't start
1st pull it needs a little throttle,3 or 4 yanks and you're off and running.
