Good morning, I just got the news. as of tomorrow Jan 4 and NO EARLIER the trails that are highlighted on this map will be open. Trail # 142-147 west side of perry. trail 140 perry stream , trail 141 to 5 to 145 -144 loop to tin camp and bosebuck . you will be able to get to youngs store from 140 only and you will get to back lake. These trails will be updated as soon as snow permitted. PLEASE use the trails that are open and don't use more . As you see the presure to open trails has been great and I thank the land owners and clubs and state to open . Lets show these people we can use this without abusing it. I do belong to the pittsburg ridge runners club and respect their need to sell maps. this is the best i feel i can do with out their permission. OVR will be getting this on the web with more info soon. We do have vacancy at 50% off this weekend.(jan 4 to jan 9)

Glad to see some riding open and money going to the businesses but also agree that is pretty marginal depth. With the hopefully brief "warm up" and poss rain in the forecast may be limited duration. We still need a cold snap and more snow IMO. But those out first hope you have fun!

Nice, I'm glad they got rid of last year's color scheme, to put it bluntly, it sucked. You could barely read the map, especialy out on the trails and even worse at night. :banghead:
Yes this is an 07 pittsburg map I'm going to paul to buy some now. the trails at this moment go from back lake to deer mt to east inlet to bosebuck. that is all we have at this time we will not be able to get to sdr trails this weekend unless things change. by the way it is 32 degrees at this moment. Now I have to pull my sled out of the trailer and get it ready. Remember these trails are going to get rough very quickly so think about treading lightly.

I was in Coleman State Park on Monday. Maybe 10-14" tops on the ground in the park and roughly 2-4" in town Colebrook. It was 34 and raining when I left. Good base if it froze. But they still needed more. Pittsburg had the same as in town Colebrook.

Steve-just wanted to thank you again for the help you gave Kurt and I with the computer. Knowing that you had nothing to gain by helping us out, as you knew we have our own place up there showed you are a true gentleman. I have already reccommended you to a few friends that need a place later this winter and will to anyone else that asks. Thanks again, we'll see you soon.

SDR to open some trails this weekend also, this posted by KD@SDR at noon on tc .com...
"As hoped, SDR will open a limited amount of trails along with PRR. The OK came in from the Bureau of Trails. Access to the SDR trails can be made from the SDR Warming Hut. (Food, Gas, parking, maps) The Hut will also open for the weekend.
Lets hope the weather hangs on and PLEASE, PLEASE stay on the designated trails. If you arrive on the weekend, that info is available in the W.H. The groomers will also do their best to mark the closed trails.
Don't tear the place up! Be happy to just be out there. It's all we've got."
If and before you go, check with Swift Diamond Riders club, Nh bureau of trails web sites first.

Just use the embankment on rte 3 right on east inlet road.
Pull off rte 3 on east inlet road and then back your truck up the side of rte 3 embankment.
I have seen it done there a many, many, many times.
Any else done it?
pathfinder has done it there a few hundred times.

Will I be able to ride from there? Ive been to Pittsburg a couple of times, but I am not too familiar with it. Last time we deployed from Buck Rub and the time before we deployed from a small parking lot about 1/4 mile past Youngs on the right. Is East Inlet Rd. by either of these?

East Inlet is further up Route 3, near the warming hut & Deer Mt. campground. This will be a better place to start from anyway with conditions the way they are.

So I was going to trailer the sled up tomorrow with my truck beacue I was worried about not being able to load it up. Do you guys think I will be fine and just keep it in the bed of the truck and I will be able to use that spot or at least find another spot where I can load an unload? I just dont want to have to unload it somewhere and then leave the sled and find a place to park the truck and then run back to the sled. I know, I am a bit paranoid.

The trail goes right thru there ( east inlet road), just don't park your truck in the trail/road and you will be find.

I dont know! your going up there with out a trailer or ramp, your by yourself and you only been there a couple times. E. Inlet and Rt.3 is very remote, almost near the border and tomorrow is only Thursday. At least have a trail map and try to hook up with other sledders to ride. Like so many say, never ride alone.

I know. Im not a huge fan of riding by myself. I usually ride with one other person and he cant get the day off. If anyone is gong to be around and wants to ride. Give me a call 978.828.0678. I am definitely going to pick up a trail map at Youngs. I have last years but I want the current one. I may end up wussing out and just taking the trailer so that way I can definitely get it on/off the truck. - Denis

Hopefully you can find a Snowbank, otherwise Legend 700s Homemade ramps look pretty good.
