here's the scenario. '95 v-max stored for 2 years(fogged and stabiled) went to start it and the throttle lever was stuck at what would be the idle position.
brother in-law plays around by the carbs and it seemed to work fine. pulled plugs and sprayed a little starting fluid in the cylinder. sled started on first pull, idled for a few for 30 seconds and just died. same procedure on identical sled that did get used last year and this sled continued to run. didn't have stuck throttle. a few minutes later, brother in-law pulls first sled and BOOM, backfires and starts on fire under on the floor and in belly pan (4' x 4' fire). we got the thing outside and got fire out after a few minutes. no burnt body panels or hood and doesn't appear to have burnt any wiring on top inside engine compartment, minor belly pan burns. my question is this, do you think this thing is fried? is there any wiring or important vitals underneath engine? looks normal inside hood. my mechanic is doing a once over, i think the floats were stuck and bowl filled and ran out thru an overflow or something. any opinions are welcomed thanks, glider out!
