I have an 02 800 XCSP, I recently bought a set of SLP Twin Pipes, SLP Billet heads, and the High flow air box. The sled already has the V-Force 3 valves. Has anyone done a similar set-up, and if so what main jets did you use?

It's not a matter of beating that poor old thing it's more of a by how much.

Thanks to everyone else for the suggestions! I had gone to the 510N jets but will try lifting the needle that should clear the mid range up.

I followed the 510N, and Needle in the centre suggestion. On a short ride (4 miles) at -15C the new plugs came out very light. To make a long story short I'm nervous. The sled ran great, but I'm afraid of a melt down. It will be warmer for the Thursday night wing ride. Any suggestions, comments, or the obvious ridule I'm about to recieve (from buddies) would be appreciated.

downnorthedgefr, from what I have seen, 8100 on a long run. And that is jetted right on. 23/40 and the 50/36 would be ok, as long as it is more aggressive than an R12. rtm, go to 520N if you are unsure. As stated, new plugs need some miles to give the true color.

You thought you could beat me 25 years ago when we were both riding boat motors (Evinrude vs Mercury). Then again when you had your TXL and I had my RV340. You then stepped up to your Indy 400 vs my 81 SRX, neither one of those would run long enough to see who was fastest. In the early 90's you thought your XLT would be a match for my Formula MZ, it was, so I bought my Formula Plus. And now you think your cheated up Edge can beat my Mach1. If you keep up this talk we may have to line up and see who's faster some day.

I don't suppose the dynaport pipes on the mach -1 are considered cheatin? Don't give me the "I smashed my out of control crotch rocket into a culvert" story (2nd time same culvert)

as a reason for the pipes. With patience you would have found set of stockers. And that my fellow readers is how the cold war really began.
Also who knows what other bolt on goodies you have after we fished the mighty mach -1 off the bottom of the Red River. (12 feet of water in early April) Another famous alcohol fueled quote " I have $8000.00 down there tie a rope to my leg I'm going in!" Good thing you didn't.

rtm, clutch that thing now and really see what it will do. Stock gears 25/40, almond/red if studded or deep lug track, almond/blue otherwise, 68 gram daltons, HSP38X helix with an erlandson black#2, or polaris blue/orange if you cannot find an erlandson black. It may even pull 70's. Clutch alignment checked, torque stop set tight, rubber squished slightly. Primary checked for full shift out, and belt clearance of .020". Running stock clutching, you are giving up a lot. Also stainless ves.

RTM , what are you running for rpm? Are you watching where it initially hits for rpm when launching out of the hole and where it builds to? Run the sled at 7900-8000 NOT 8500 as stated above somewhere.
Hey Pockets, thanks for the clutching info. That was going to be my next step.
TOPGUN, I haven't watcheg that closely from the hole, but it tops out around 8200 RPM, the clutching changes should bring it into line.
Thanks again to both of you for the help!

Hey guys
I also have an 02 800 with twins, but they are PSI's as opposed to SLP's. I bought the sled with the pipes on it from the dealer. It was a leftover (bought in Jan 05) w/ 0 miles on it, actually like 5 but whatever. They had done up a few sleds in 03 with pipes, reeds and clutch work and then my sled and an 03 700 hadn't sold.
Anyways, I was wondering if the clutch set up and RPM numbers you guys are talking about would be applicable to my sled as well. I assume that they would seeing as how both sleds are sporting twin pipes but just thought I would make sure. The dealer said that they did the recommended jetting and clutching when the pipes were put on. The plugs always run just a tough rich (which is fine with me) but not to the point of bogging. The sled pulls hard up to about 100 on the speedo and I have had it past 110, again on the speedo. RPM wise the sled hits about 8100 or so on long pulls.
I have never checked the weights or anything w/ the clutch but plan on doing so after this season. If I am to make a change would the suggestions from Pockets provide me with the best results or is there a difference between the PSI pipes and the SLP's?
TOPGUN
Feb 5 2007, 05:24 PM
According to a well known Dyno, the PSI's made 147 at 7900 ( lower then I thought) rpm while the SLP'S made 149 @ 7700-7800. The Psi's are a good set of pipes. I have run Psi's on many sleds with great results.

Hot seat HSP38X. It is listed as a 50/38. If you are geared down use an erlandson orange secondary spring. Most every 800 running 78-7900 rpm will pull 70 gram weights. The 800 needs to be loaded to work well.

Although it was towed home (by others, I rode along with a mixture of concern and glee) after it's trip to the bottom of the Red River. Wait a minute.......I remember you needing a lift home when the electrical crapped out. But to be fair the sled wasn't towed. Just left behind for pick-up. I will admit the engine/power train has never let you down.

Glass Racing, don't you have a job? Are you some sort of forum junkie, or could it be something altogether deeper?
Were you left alone alot as a child? Possibly never allowed to play video games so now you spend your days stalking snomobile forums waiting for Dr. Phil to come on TV to save you one hour at a time?
Is living in Woodlands possibly causing some sort of isolation anxiety?
I know you'll reply because you have a need to cave into your addiction. Stop the insanity, delete this forum from your favorites, turn off your computer and go introduce yourself to the stranger living in your house. If you need something to do cut holes in your pockets so you have something to play with.

Sadly you missed me spooling up the reverse thrusters while navigating around that hose deal on the ground (the one that goes "ding ding" and alerts the gas jockeys to an arriving vehicle). It was pretty impressive...but you were still inside the store matching wits with the pimple-faced clerk who was wondering how you failed the mental gymnastics required to match your payment amount to the actual gas pump # that you used. I think my fill-up came out to about 0.40/litre, thanks.
