very close to L'Étape.

L'etape is between quebec city and chicoutimi, not much there besides a gas station, small hotel and a restaurant.

The "hotel" Auberge Le Relais run by the Government/Parks dept has small 12x12 rooms with shared bathroom in the hall. Clean place and the only one, dinner and breakfast included in room price as there isn't anywhere else to go other than truck stop/gas just down the street.

I believe you must make reservations in advance so they can plan food accordingly.
