Well the approval for the chip factory in Luthers Forest next to Saratoga Lake looks like its going to happen. I live on saratoga lake and hit the Luther Forest trail from the lake and ride them to ballston lake and sometimes to the Charlton trails over towards Sacandaga. Does anyone know when the chip factory work begins or is completed if it will result in the closure of the Luther Forest Trail forever or are alternative snowmobile trails being considered or even possible? I sure hope it stays open cause its nice when the snow is here and you dont feel like traveling.

I can't explain it completely over the computer due to all the turns and stuff but i can tell you from a point that you should understand. You have to take some side trails from luthers (which are legal and marked) and hit the bike path that gos under the northway by exit 12.... when there is snow them trails are so nice and fast. You take the bike path over to stewarts on rt67 down from Curtis lumber. From there you take some side trails to the Hess on RT 50 cross the road and ride behind the high school, hit the power lines and take them to ballston lake. 3/4 of the way down the powerlines before you hit Ballston Lake you will see a sign on the right identifying the Charlton Trails. We have taken the trails all the way to stewarts on rt 67 half way between Bspa and Amsterdamn. I was told that if we went a ways further we could get to sacandaga but never did a ride past that stewarts. Since we did that ride in 2005 we havent had the snow to make the haul to that stewarts then to sacandaga... overall when there is decent snow the trails are nice... some nice cruising trails with some tight trails you have to take your time threw... a ride deffinately worth doing. If you ever want to meet me at my place on fish creek/saratoga lake we can go for a ride and i show you the trail system... but we need good snow for an enjoyable time!

If we get the snow we'll do it. If we ride to the stewarts between bspa and amsterdamn maybe we'll give it a try and see if we can make it sacandaga like i was told can be done from there. Anyone ever been to that stewarts from sacandaga? I heard threw the grapevine you can ride from saratoga lake to sacandaga. Never met anyone who has ever done it though. If the stewarts i rode to is as close as i think then depending on the trails you should make it to sacandaga in an hour give or take. Making a complete trip from saratoga lake to sacandaga would be one hell of trip thats for sure.

The trail out of MR. C's is just about destroyed right???? I would like to do the trip. I've ridden to the Stewarts by curtis lumber, but after going through the industrial park we couldnt figure out how to getover thetracks and turned around....
The Stwarts on the corner of 147 and 67 is always packed with sledders, and I'd Imagine once hooked up to the galway trails you can find the lake somehwere???
Fireman, I also am in Clifton Park and ride alot in sacandaga, wonder why we've never met? I'm about .5 mile south of n-way exit 10, and have ridden from the tracks at exit 10 to the exit 12 stwearts, to saratoga lake.

the trail you take over cary rd to the tracks is my buddys house if you see a black f5 or a yellow honda foreman riding in that field thats him. i did see you at lanzis last season never had a chance to say hi. im down at exit 8 rode from both sides of tracks up from the river and from the power lines on the west side of town to bob&arlenes and to mr cs.i think you can still ride the old rail bed up to malta/ballston spa.

There is a side trail once you hit by the industrial park. Its not labeled but is a legite trail from what i was told and never had a problem the 2 times i took it. It gets you around to the top of the tracks where there is a spot you cross that will take you to the back of Hess on RT50.
