Just an FYI. I've been to a lot of places and always treat people with dignity and respect, the way I would want to be treated myself. I went into Poor Farm Trading Post a few weeks back to buy a new sled for my boy. The owner Lee quoted me a number and I agreed, thinking thats fair and shook on it. He then went on to charge for a bunch of additional stuff, admin fee and so on. People got to eat so I didn't say a lot but did ask and he said like most wise old business men, I'll make it up next time. He quoted another price for my other son $3999 for a used 340 classic thinkin I had crap between my ears, about $2K too much. I left wondering what the heck happened. Couple weeks past and I figured I would buy a wheel kit for the 120 I bought my son from there and called Lee. He looked and said "come up" he had them in stock. He knew I lived an hour away so I said I'll be up and an hour later I arrived to find he did infact not have them at all. With my two boys with me we waited for 40 min while he said whe would call around only to over hear him shooting the bull with his buddies on the phone. After a 40 min wait getting upset and disrespected standing 10 feet away with my kids looking for me for guidence, I still showed my boys to be respectful and as we stood listening to him gab away, we got his attention while he sat on the phone and I made my boys gracefully wave as we left.

This is my experience and I suggest unless your pride doesn't matter, I'd stay the heck away. Poor Farm is just that. Too bad, the mechanic there is one of the nicest guys I've ever met....

I've had them try and screw me a couple times. Had to lay it on the line, that I wasn't paying more than we discussed and I had in writing, but he tried.

Then there was the time my brand new sled had the chain come loose while in quebec 10 miles out, and having to fix it trailside. After that at the end of the warranty the chaincase blew up, and they tried to make me pay $1200.00 :frech32: Oh, and the clutch kit the sold me and installed I later found out was for a different application. :wut60:

Can definitely believe what is being said!!!

Since I'm still hot, the ass Lee didn't even apologize when we drove the friggen hour to get there, he laughed and said I thought it was a Cat. Didnt even have the courage to be a man and say sorry to me an my boys who saved for the sled. Money doesn't grow on trees....

The same thing happened to one of my kid's friends at the grass drags. He bought a used sled at one of the vendors, he went to sign and pickup sled on following Monday and they added extra money for dealer prep. and possible warranty. plowking

Now that NH Motorsports in Rindge and Nashua Motorsports in Milford are in the area, Lee's got stiff competition and he know it. He better change his ways and attitude if he's going to survive. That's too bad you had that experience, nobody should go through that.

I've heard nothing but bad from Pork Farm from everyone I know who's been there. I do hope the new dealership in Milford puts him out. Sorry to say that but man it well deserved.

I live 10 minutes from Poor Farm and bought my sled brand new there. Lee knew who I was because a friend buys ALOT there so he gave me a decent deal. I'm by no means a fan of the business but I will NEVER go to the place in Jaffrey or Milford, they are the same people that own Keene Motorsports and they have screwed me over in the past. I wish Matt and Jody were still running Amherst Motorsports, they used to be the best in the area. When I go out looking for my next sled, I think I'm going to go to HK.

I live 10 minutes from the Pork Farm. I drive right buy them when I go to Livingstons in hillsboro(Steve and Gene are great people there), over an hour away. Lee has a personality of a piece of shit. I bought my first sled from them in 1989, and said never go back. A few years ago my wife not knowing got me a gift certificate to Pork Farm, it killed me to buy a belt and plugs there. Back in 2003 I had my f-7 stolen so I went to all local dealers and warned them what happen and gave them a pamplet of my sled, well when I went to Pork Farm it was like I was bothering Lee when I told him story. Found out afterward he got hit and someone stole some of his sleds. That attitude will bite him in the ass, my 2 cents...........Warning stay away from Pork Farm!!!
Dave50
Hey red were do u stay when u go to caribou? I stay at caribou cabins.net I live in fitchburg I love it up there.Just bought a sled there too Great people TTUL

Dave the last 6-7 years we have been staying in the presque isle area. We have stayed at Northern lights, the Budget across the street, even in Washburn years ago. Kind of like presque isle doesnt seem to be as many people in town. Plus little less of a ride. No signs of any cold weather in site Whalom lake is where I mess around down here we have got a snowmobile club in Lunenburg. Luneburg Snow Riders. Got to go hope for snow and lots of it see ya Mark
Dave50
Thats cool Mark i joined LSR last year wanted to take the boy out around the area on the sno-scoot but we didnt get much of a winter either CYA

I heard at my clubs New Years eve dinner that Poor Farm is going to close soon.

My friends speculation was that there's no business.

I think Lee is going to retire, he's of age but who knows, just a rumor at this time. dunno.gif

I have only good things to say about Rochester Sports Center(not to be confused with rochester motorsports). Best Cat/Polaris dealer in the state imho.
Asphalt Jockey
Rochester Sports Center might be good to do business with AFTER you buy a sled from them...but before you do...all they do is remind you that you didn't!

I recently moved and tried to make them my new source for sleds and parts...they were not so friendly and cooperative when I informed them of the fact that I had just purchased 2 new sleds last year and at this time was only looking to have some warranty work performed.

Their attitude tward doing this for me was enough to get me to drive past their shop and 1+ hr further to have the work performed with a smile and an inquiry if there was anything else that I needed! I think that the drive was well worth it and will continue to do so! I guess I'll be doing business with Livingston's for a long time even though Rochester is a lot closer drive for me! Their prices and discounts beat any I've been able to find...and I've been buying sleds for over 30 yrs now!

Two dealers i stay away from are pork farm, and Cully's
very bad experience with both of them...

There is only one dealer in N.H. that I will go to for Sales and Service, HK Powersports in Hooksett. They sell all 4 brands through out their stores and have the best crew behind the counter after the sale is complete! People make the dealership and service is #1 to me! End commercial brake!

Poor farm does suck. I bought my 03 800xc back in 04. I wanted a 700 said he had none. Whatever so I bought the 800 for around $6900 I bought it in Sept. We got snow in Dec I put 150 miles on it and it would not rev over 6500 rpm. I brought it to them and they said it was a bad belt. I said I changed the F---in belt . Then they said it was the sdi box they changed it and did the same thing. Anyway I got my sled back that next Oct. I was pissed I had no sled for a good winter. My buddy let me use his. It ended up that my crank was twisted. We got snow I drove it and it still only reved to 6900 I then posted on this site. Pockets told me to check my exh. valves. I could not believe what I found. One of the valves the threads on the were stripped out and fell down in the moter. Luckey for me the thread end was egged out and could not fall in all the was. THE POOOOOOOOR FARM HAS NO CLUE WHAT THEY ARE DOING. I WILL NEVER GO BACK. Oh yeah when I went back to pick my sled up they had 2 2003 700 xc on display. I was even more pissed. And Lee could of cared less.
