JUST GOT BACK FROM MY SNOWMOBILING TRIP IN GRAYLING, MICHIGAN. SPOOLED ON 516 MILES, 302 MILES ON FRIDAY, UP TO THE BIG MAC AND BACK!!!! THE ERGOS AND HANDLING IS THE BEST I HAVE EVER RIDEN!!! FUEL M.P.G. RANGED FROM 13 TO 15.6 MILES PER US. GALLON. IT DOESN'T FEEL AS HEAVY AS IT IS.I RODE WITH VINCE FROM CHICAGO, I RODE VINCE'S ZR900, AND AFTER GETTING USED TO THE JAGUAR, IT FELT AKWARD RIDING ON THE VERY BACK OF HIS SLED. :brrrr: summer_sucks.gif :arctic_cat_rules: :arctic_cat_rules: HCS_rules.gif flag_canada.gif

Yup, I love mine also! We went to Munising area for the day on Friday and that is a great riding sled! :div20: I did a little report also on Arctic Chat but you sumed it up right, great sled!

lacat: glad to hear you liked your Jag too. Interesting, with all the complaining that has been going on with the Jag, I have yet to hear from anyone who owns one that isn't head-over-heels in love with the sled. As far as I'm concerned it's just freakin' awesome! :div20:

Old Cat Man and La Cat----Nice!!! Reports.....Great to hear you guys are delighted!!!! with yournew Z1s. I have been considering upgrading from my 2004 F7 Ext which I like for its 40 to 80 mph 200 to 300 miles per day. I have been concerned for the RydeFX shocks and short track.....still like to go off track a little. So would you mind giving a little more feedback;
How fast were you driving most of your trip?
How did it handle in the woods-twisties at 40 mph?
Was it tiring driving hard?
How did the weight feel?
Did it push comming hard into corners?
Could you slide it breaking out of corners?
How did acelleration feel?
Any noticeable fade in the shocks after 200mi
Were the trails choppy---how did it feel
Any G Bumps---did it bottom

Thanks---sorry for the many questions.....at 63 I want to be sure I don't get a heavy beast which I thought my previous ZR900 was a little heavy for fast woods riding above 40mph......Thanks again Mooselook

Ok, Moose lets see how I can do here.

I say most of our trip was too fast for break in haha, 40- 60
Handleing was good but those stock carbides always suck but I didn't want to put on the new ones until after that stoneing trails, that will help just like other Cat sleds.
Very easy to drive and when my legs got tired late in the day I just put the seat way up and I felt ready to go more.
I felt a little heavy but not much very stable! Even both of my friends that drove it said the same STABLE sled, and they have new Xfires.
Very little sliding, I have 120 studs on it.
It kept right up with the Xfire 6 off the line and then about 60 it seem to pull a little better that the 6, IMO. But, we were all breaking in new sleds so we'll see later this winter, but I'm happy with it. It pulls different then a two stroke but when you loo at speedo you are surprised.
Shocks were great, I was able to get the ACT ones, but I bet the Ryde would be good also.
And I was surprise, it didn't bottom out once!
Most trails were pretty good, I think you would be very happy with this sled!

Good Luck,
Frank

Thanks! Frank...I appreciate your feedback...sounds like the way to go...still trying to decide on the Z1 or F8 snopro...word has it there may be an early build 2008 Z1 maybe ST where I would like the 128in track and the act shocks---I may wait another couple weeks...right now there is no snow...so its not too painful.

PS: How do you think it will handle when the the trail gets one to two foot mogels for miles at 40 to 60 mph. This creates a problem for most sleds except for snopros...but was just curious...thanks again.

THIS SLED RIDES THE BEST FROM 20 MPH TO 90MPH! AT 80 IT FEELS LIKE 50 ON MY FIRECAT! THE BUMPS ARE30% WHAT THEY USED TO BE! THE REAR FEELS BOTTOMLESS!COMING UP TO A STOP THE MOTOR SOUNDS LIKE IT SHUTS ITSELF OFF,THINKING IT STALLS,BUT IT'S JUST SO QUIET! NONE OF MY GEAR STINKS LIKE THE DIRTY 2 STROKE I'VE BEEN BURNING ALL THESE YEARS!!CRANKED IT UP TO 92MPH WITH MORE TO GO!!!!
Mooselook
Thanks LaCat.....sounds awsome...which shocks are you running...stock RydeFX or Act gas? Did it feel heavier the your previous Firecat.....was it any more tiring than the Firecat after riding 100 plus miles. I love the fact that the smoke is greatly reduced..as it now affects me a little after 80,000 miles, especially on warm days. Thanks again for your response.......we are hoping to see enough riding snow in Rangeley ME.

I HAVE THE E.B. ACT GAS SHOCKS. THOSE BICYCLE SHOCKS THEY SHIPPED IT WITH WOULD NEVER SEE 5000 MILES IN MY OPINION. THE SLED PUSHES MORE IN THE CORNERS THAN THE FIRECAT BECAUSE OF THE WEIGHT BUT IT DOESN'T FEEL HEAVY. WE DID 302 MILES IN THE L.P. OF MICH. ON DEC.8TH WITH NO FATIGUE. WHEN I PUT ON MY 10'' WOODY'S SKATEA ON THE SKIES IT SHOULD HANDLE LIKE A CHAMP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I have 3500 miles on these style shocks on my ZL and just checked them the other day and they are still like brand new. The Ryde FX shocks in my opinion are the only shocks to have if you are a trail rider! No maintenence and will be selling the sled before they need replacing!

I had 9700 miles on 03 zl 800 front shocks with no problems, but the rear one in back was done at 5600 miles.I put a zr 900 rear skid with rebuildable shocks. I going four stroke next year but I think cat should make a ST Jag like the ST turbo with a 12 gallon gas tank. :div20:

The ride FX shocks are fine put over 8,000 miles on my 04 T660 no problems :div20:

I rode LACATS Z1 for about 10 miles nice sled, I just have to get used to the new rider position.

I can't wait to get back on a four stroke, I bought the 900 as a carryover last year and while I really like the brute, I miss the low vibration and smoothness of the four stroke. I'm sure Cat will have a SP Z1 next year

Just out of curiosity, how did you check the shocks ?

Pulled them off and cycled them through and they are as smooth as the day that I bought the sled. You can also tell when a shock goes bad from the ride and mine has not changed since the first day I rode it. Have not changed a thing since I first bought the sled and can't tell any difference.
