hunted the adirondacks for 8 days with 7 other guys - in total we saw 11 (I saw nada). 2 weeks later hunted western NY with 8 other guys for thanksgiving week - in total we saw 30 (I think I saw 3).
I feel your pain.
I did catch a real nice glimpse of a 6-point right before I ran it over on my way to work down here in PA, on opening day no less - talk about pissed off!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
story of that.....................................
Ok so after no seeing many deer in 2 weeks of hunting in NY, I hit one about 200 yards from my house on the way to work this morning. I was still accelerating and it runs out of this brush along this guy's house and right into the front right of the truck. So I pull over, check out the truck while the deer is kicking in the yard. The deer then tries to again cross the road (looks like a hip and left rear leg are broke) - while I spent 10 minutes staying between him and the road and slowing down traffic.

The deer then goes around the side of the house, when I call the Lancaster Twp. Police. The officer arrives and we look around and find the deer hiding under a utility trailer.

He sees us and gets out from underneath the trailer and the cop shoots him from a distance of about 36". The cop then tells me to call up the Game Commission to get a roadkill carcass tag, as the police do not provide them in PA.

There was not a scratch in the truck, and the two of us load the deer back up in the truck. Since the horns were small ( 6pt. And not legal in this region), I didn't care about them - but I didn't want the meat to go to waste - I call up the game commission and told them my deal. Also said since it was warm, I wanted to take it in to get it butchered asap. The game commission guy was ignorant (at best) and said I had to skin it out, and remove the head and horns or have the processors do it ASAP, and some one would be there in the next few days to look it over. I told them I am on my way to work and wouldn't skin it and already called the processors and since it is opening day they are too busy to special order skin it. So I called the PGC back and told them my situation. They wanted me to hang it - which I said I wouldn't (as it would spoil since it is so warm), they then said I would be in "big trouble" if I didn't do what they said, of which I said forget it and went and dumped it back where I hit it. Complete shame since the deer was wasted, and really unhappy with the unprofessionalism with the game commission.
