My 2002 ZL 600efi SS decided it did like the cold weather two weeks ago. There was no spark. (Some History - A week previous I cleaned the APV's and studded the track. After I did this I started the sled and let it warm up then spun the track for a while checking the studs. I then shut it off with the kill switch. The following weekend it did not spark) I took it to the dealer and the dealer first thought it was a bad connection. Apparently this was not it. The dealer believes that there is a short in the CDI part of the ECU. Sometimes you can get the it to spark and will run fine. The fuel injection part of the ECU checks out. Does it make sense that the CDI sometimes works? Ofcourse I would need another ECU but I'm concerned that this is not the problem. I have ordered a used ECU from Al's but it is from a 2001 600. They assure me that the ECU is the same for the 2002 just a part number change. Does this make sense? Any help would be appreciated.
