Got my first ride in this weekend, and whenever we filled up, gas spilled all over the place, later found out we have a crack down the middle of the gas cap, will not be fixed for a week or two :banghead: anyone else have this problem???

A week or 2 for a gas cap? dunno.gif My brother's was leaking but you couldn't see any cracks in it. Stopped at the dealer and they gave him a new cap. Didn't even write up a work order..

Had/have the almost the same problem. I filled up on my first ride of the year and had gas leaking out the top of the tank I also thought it was the cap but later found a crack at the bottom of the filler neck. There IS a service bullitin about this, check it out with your dealer.

If there is a crack, your dealer SHOULD install a new tank and the filler neck recall kit as well.

Mine leaked yesterday. Sled already had the filler neck kit installed. This really sucks.

I got my sled back last week after waiting close to 3 weeks for the new gas tank. Replacement deoesn't have the neck support.
PolarisNut
Noticed mine was cracked before the first ride of the year. 400 miles and I never let the fuel nozzle rest on the neck. Just need to get sled into the dealer to have it updated. There were a bunch of ditch pickles at my dealer for the same thing...They must use the same plactics company.

Yup. Mine is loaded and on it's way to the dealer for it's new tank tomarrow. They
were supposed to do the recall when it was there last time but thier new brilliant
technician forgot to so I spent the entire first ride with gas all over my pants. Not
happy.... :banghead:

All '06's should have had a neck kit installed before leaving the dealer, don't sweat it, the dealers will take care of it. If the tank is replaced it does not need a neck kit.

My understanding was not all 06's needed the insert. I thought it was based on the sleds vin?
suark
Yes, but I only saw a few late build dragons that didn't need it.

we had both the 600 and the 900 recalls for the filler necks done and our tanks still cracked, dealer order new tanks yesterday, polaris said they know its a problem. my bibs are ruined......I would like Polaris to get me new bibs or pay to get the gas smell out of mine. Shit heads

An ozone generator will remove the smell of gasoline from fabric, but the true damage will show up later when the fabric is weakened and faded from the gasoline that soaked it.

Many home restoration/damage clean-up companies have ozone generators. Such a service-pro, and other fire & smoke damage restoration companies.

good luck. Give them a call. I have seen an ozone generator used in a ford expidition when the owner dumped a leaky 5-gallon fuel can on it's side going around a corner, 3 gallons spilled onto the carpet and it still stunk a month later until they used the ozone generator.

I own one as well, but I never thought about using it for that. We also have one at the dealer I work at, I'll give that a shot.....thanks :beerchug:

[size=7]Mine is at the dealer getting a new tank and the carburetor boots replaced they said there was a service bulletin out for them also. Cracked vertically either side of threaded neck. Insert had been installed before it ever hit the trail last season. Dealer is replacing no questions asked. My 98 ZR 600 did the same thing after the first season and it cost me $300 they said I must of tightened the cap to tight I was pissed!!!!!

New tank, throttle cable, and reed boots will be at the dealer this Friday. :div20:

Got mine back and reassembled it last night. All is well now.

As for my riding pants, I didn't even bring them in the house until I took them
down to the local car wash and hosed them down. Man, should have seen the
looks I was getting during that........ :drunk: :smilielol: I then proceeded to
scrub the hell out of them with some Fast Orange hand cleaner in the tub.
Smell gone. We'll see how long they last now. Not that Polaris clothing ever
really impressed me any seeing as how I already had to have part of these
pants resewn from shitty factory stiching....... :banghead:

Could have been worse though, could have been wearing some Klim stuff
and then I would have REALLY been pissed.......
