I have a 1995 Ski-doo formula 500. It has severe hesitation from idle to about 1/4 throttle. I would guess it is my pilot jets need to be cleaned.
My book says I should have
Carburetor: VM 38 311-311
main jet: 320
pilot Jet: 45
needle Jet 480-P7
Looks like I have
Carburetor: Mikuni Corp H492
Looks Like I have:
main jet: 180
pilot jet: ???
needle jet: T59P-0
Are these jet numbers even close? Is that what my issues are?
Can anyone help me identify the carb? Is it the VM38.

i have a ski doo 97 formula 500.. and i have like the almost exact same problem with idling. all i know is that you could have your jets redone or cleaned. and make sure the your screws on the carbs are equally set.

Thanks skidoolover. I am soaking the jets in carb cleaner over night.
Another note. When it is hesitating at low rpm's if I give it a shot of gas with the primmer button it jumps to life. Again this sounds to me like the pilot jet not giving it enough gas. Could it be the mixture screw? that is out 1.75 turns as indicated in the book.

yah. it could be. 1.75 sounds right. but if it is not gettin enough gas or too much it will to that.. they are very very touchy. you need to have the screw at almost exactly the rite amount or it wont run like it is supposed to it seems. its really annoying. i have no problem helpin a fellow ski doo fan. :div20:

I'm not sure on how you would identify the carb. Im not too familiar on that part of it. I have never looked at what carb mine is i guess. Ive only looked at the screws and the jets mostly. sorry.
