Got my wife a heated shield for her helmet, where is the best and easiest place to get power from? (A picture is worth a thousand words). It is a 1998 ZL500

Don't have a pic but it's pretty simple. At the base of your steering column (at the tank) is a cowling. Remove the four fasteners. Two are phillips heads and two are hex nut screws. Pop the center section out of the cowling and the whole thing will come off. You'll find a two pin connector under the cowling. Your cat dealer sells an electric faceshield connector for about $14.00. There are two types, one for Arctic Cat faceshields and another for aftermarket electric face shields. Either one will plug right in. Just put the cowling back together and you're good to go.

The whole job takes about 15 minutes. Have a great time! I've had an electric face shield for three years. They rock!

that is a great spot, or any yellow & brown wire you want.
I have had one since '97, and won't be without it :div20:

Go to an auto parts store and you can get the plugs for about three bucks. Use plenty of zip ties to secure the wire to the bars, trust me, my old lady forgets about being plugged in all the time. If you want to get fancy, drill out a hole next to your key, in the plastic cowling, to fit the RCA jack that came with your shield and silicone it in. Viola.

I attached mine to the gauge light pos. terminal(red), and the black to ground terminal(backside of gauges) on my 99ZL efi,and have had no problems at all, very simple hookup :div20:
