I have the opportunity to go to college at Paul Smiths in the Adirondacks. I was wondering if anyone rides around there and how the trails are. And where might I be able to find a snowmobile trail map of the area. thanks

Trails are sweet, you can hook up w/ the powerlines and go south to charlies and lake placid or north all the south colton or to cranberry lake!! Lots of trails!! Pm me if you want! I graduated from Clarkson a little north!!

The riding is awesome! I go up to that area a couple times a year. I have been told that you can ride right off the campus, but I personally have never done it. Every time I try to get on the campus, the trail going there runs out of snow due to it being a road that is well used.

The admissions counsler said I can ride from the campus and leave my sled on campus! Anyone know of anywhere I can order a map of the area?

Check with the Saranac Lake Area Chamber of Commerce in Saranac Lake. Many of the local business, resturants, etc have the maps available...though I haven't seen the 2007 yet, but I haven't looked.

I live on the corridor trail in Gabriels.

I'd be surprized if what the admissions counselor told you is true ? There were there was a fatal accident two years ago at Peter's Rock lean-to...across the lake from the library. Immediately after that, students with sleds on campus either had to leave them in their trucks or park them out on the ice, which was considered 'off-campus'. The policies may have changed, but PSC is extremely liability conscious !

You can hook up with the power line adjacent to campus though.

Good luck

Maybe she was off with her info or something... sounds like its pretty good up there. I'm going to be taking a trip to visit in February. I stayed at the Saranac Hotel-run by the college in August. Was wondering if any hotels have trail access from the rooms. It could be around Placid also, but im sure the prices will be way up there. Thanks for the info!
