Hey guys, hope you all had a great summer. I'm thinking seriously about a new '07 Crossfire, but not if the tunnel bending issue hasn't been addressed. I guess we won't know for sure until a bunch of miles have been racked up, but is there any new bracing in that area? I don't want to spend $10K on a new sled & have to rivet a bunch of extra metal on myslef to keep the thing from bending in half... dunno.gif

Thanks for your help!

I was concerned about this as well, before I bought mine. I looked to see if they had beefed that area up or not. My dealer had an 07 on the floor and an 06 outside, so I compared the two. I did not notice anything different.

But I still bought one. And I'm glad I did. I may still put some support is just for added insurance.

Get the supports just because it is cheap insurance. The weak spring and valving rates were the biggest problems but adding a sno pro spring will help out there as well.

well by spec there is 2 more inches of travel in the rear on the 07s
i havent looked into what parts are different yet though ,, BUT maybe the xtra 2 inchs is a fix? /shrug , i would like to know though , ,, Also there was a post in this forum or somewhere where a guy did a hygear set up on the front shock spring , progressive rate, looked sick, but spendy im sure

between

moding to 07 skid
hygear progressive front spring
and tunnel braces * kroms, AC tow kit, or erie power* or a combo of towkit w/ either

i think that would just about cover any * potental issue*

I agree, it takes literally about 10 minutes to install a set of protectors\supports (like the Krom's one's I installed) and it gives you peace of mind. I don't think anyone who has bent their tunnels did it while "driving easy on a trail", most happened on jumps and what not (from what I've read, if someone's happened while riding easy then I apologize). Even though some have bent it's been a very SMALL amount of them in the big picture. I installed krom's supports and haven't had any issues yet and I weigh 280lbs without my gear on AND carry a passenger (sometimes a friend who weighs another 220lbs!) with ice fishing gear and haven't bent the tunnel yet :beerchug: <knock on wood!>

There is not any more travel on the 07s. Last year they had the same discrepancy; some of their literature said 15" of travel, some said 17". It was either a typo or they measured differently, but the rear travel is the same.

dunno.gif Strange, I know under the 06 model specs (in passed sleds) it says 15" and the 07's says 17"? 2" Is pretty close in rear travel anyways so the difference would only be noticeable in extreme situations I guess.

Not all of the 06 specs said 15". Sometimes it was listed as 17". This same question came up last year, when the EB 06 first came out, and people were wondering why there were two numbers.

I just bought a leftover 06 xfire7 SnoPro. What is bending? I guess I didn't pay any attention to what was happening with the Crossfires.

Thanks

Apparently a few people have bottomed out their front arm, and kinked the tunnel, on M's and C's. I've talked to a few people that have bottomed fairly hard without any damage (including me), so it's probably not a huge problem, but a lot of people are adding tunnel supports just as insurance. I just put on 100 miles tonight on fairly rough trails, and lightly bottomed the front arm once on one wicked bump. So my revalving definitely helped a lot. I had it done by Deycore.
