Need some advise. Here's the situation, family of (4) with 2 ST Turbo's, 660 2-Up and a 2006 570z LX. Emotionally the decision to buy a Crossfire 6 is easy, but making a rational argument for spending another 4K after trade in is difficult. I know the the Crossfire has more HP's, EFI and is better looking, but what else will a Crossfire do for me?

It's been toted in many reputable magazines as one of the best cats to be made in a long time (the 700 anyways, 600 is the same but slightly less HP) and almost everyone who has bought one has fallen completely in love with them. Since you're a family man and the wife might put up the arguement of going to a one seater you can easily get and throw a seat jack on to make it a 2upper cost effectively and completely removeable with quick releases, that was a big selling point for my wife, her only condition was if I spend money on a brand new sled, it HAD to have a backrest\2nd person seat for her when she comes ice fishing hehe. I posted some pics of the jack here:
http://www.hardcoresledder.com/forums/inde...howtopic=192702I love my XF700, it's an awesome machine and I'm sure I'd be just as happy with a 600, at least the 600 is more reasonable on gas! lol :beerchug:

I'm selling the Wife's Panther 570, she will not be riding it this year, her father has a termial condition, and we need the money for travel, so we decided this was an easy way to go, sell off some machines.
AT any rate,
my wife said (after riding my XF7 30 miles) that she would like one of her own an "XF 500" as the power was too great on the 700, but she liked the ride and seating position, said it was much easier to drive, and could ride it longer!
So that was enough for me, sell the Panther this year, buy a left over XF5 next!
as for your situation, the 570 is old school, and old style suspension, old seating position etc. I know the money is an issue, but your 570 will only go down in value over the years.
I suspect the XF will hold it's value a bit longer
It's your call, but if I were in your situation, I'd be selling the 570 :beerchug:
Just my 2 bits :div20:

Rationality? There are never any rational reasons to buy a sled....just ask my wife. Crossfire kicks a$$$$$$ and from the buggies you're used to, will bring your snowmobiling experience to a new level. You'll spend a bit more on gas but the smile on your face will more than compensate. GO BUY IT NOW! :div20:

Thanks for the input. How does the EFI compare for performance? The 570z LX is new just 500 miles (approx.). How does the Crossfire handle off trail powder? The ST Turbo's don't perform well off trail, great on the trail but the weight makes deep powder prohibitive.

Off-trail, on-trail, beside-the-trail......handles all conditions very well. The EFI is very nice. The 600s seem to be calibrated somewhat better than the 7s. No issues with Cat's EFI, they've been at it the longest and have it nailed. Performance wise the 600 EFI has more low end then the ST, similar midrange and the top end on the CF is a little weak due to lower gearing and more rotating mass than say a Firecat or ST. The EFI will be substantially more responsive, especially on the low end. The EFI is also very nice with regards to changing temps as carbs will not compensate leading to a little more inconsistent performance compared to the EFI. I have owned nothing but Polaris(8 of them) and this Xfire is bar none the best sled I have ever owned for all conditions. You'll be hard pressed to find many negative comments about the Crossfires....it is in a different class than what you are familiar with. I can honestly say with no bias that you will LOVE this sled even if you try like hell not too.

Rational? You, like me, live in Michigan where we're lucky to get 3 good months of snowmobiling, rationality has no business in this sport. You spend thousands of $$$ on a sled so you can spend hundreds of $$$ on gas and oil every weekend while eating overpriced garbage from bars and greasy spoons all with a HUGE grin on your face. There is no good reason to buy/own a snowmobile other than the pure joy it brings you. That said, your joy will be magnified ten-fold with a new CF. I got rid of my '03 REV 800, '04 RX Warrior and '04 ZR9 and now have the CF7, it does everything better than any of those sleds aside from high speed lake runs and that to me is kinda boring.
GET THE SLED, YOU'LL NEVER REGRET IT!!!!

My wife has a XF600 and she loves it. Actually every chance i get i drive it. From a firecat 700 to this i would rather have a XF.
Go buy one you will love it

Theres an article in a recent Amsnow that shows the CF6 gets just as good mileage as the rev sdi. The 700 is more a pig at the pumps. Crossfire will also have a higher resale value when it comes time to upgrade again.
