Yea, this pattern is getting pretty sad. I wonder if Accuweather is going to change there 07-07 winter forcast?? Its pretty lousy.
legend700
why does everyone keep seeing MA weather forecasts and get worked up, theres typically a 5-10 degree temp difference in the winter between northern MA and northern NH.

I was just looking at th twin mountian forecast. high of 40 lows around 20-25 for most of the next 15 days. Thats perfect snow creation weather if we had any moisture around. best snow falls between 20 and 35 degrees, not too dry and clubs can roll it and start a base which is what we are going to need fora good season.

This is true, but it would be even better to get snow south of twin. It's hard to travel north all the time.

Also remember that the Accuweather & several other long range forecasts called for a mild fall into December with the bulk of the winter cold & snows occuring January & February.

Using that criteria, they are right on so far this season (can't say winter because it is not winter yet!).

Patience, it will come! :fluffy:  :fluffy:

28 Degrees is best.
Patience, I agree. but it does get pretty depressin when its 20 degrees one day and in the 50's the next.

Check weather.gov doesnt seem to say that about pittsburg. Yeah i know not everyone goes to pitsburg.

I hope you are right. :div20: I agree with most of you above but being in western mass the closest area for decent riding for me is Woopford (woodford, vt) and it doesnt look like a good start there.

Whens the last time we had snow south of twin that actually lasted more than a few days before January. Usually it's blown off the rockingham rec trails, pawtuckaway and bear brook within a few hours if we get snow early because the ground is soft and people just feel the need to rip it up or we get some rain and warm temps behind the snow. Southern areas are at best an 8 week season usually more like 6 from Winnie south. 2 years ago the season also started late but mid jan-mid march was very good. I'll take consistent cold nights to freeze the ground and hope we get a nor'easter around christmas and get a typical jan and feb southern riding season.

There's frost in the ground, and it isn't leaving till late april. Cheer up.

Thats where they use the term average temperature. Warm some days cold on some= average temperature.

Your Absolutely correct, the Rockingham Rec trail is Bare ground before the storm is over. Its a Given that we have to travel north to ride. Would be nice to be able to ride the Middle part of the state as well as the North Country. At least the Pittsburg Long Range forcast does not look too bad , Warmest days in the Mid 30s. Just have to take what we get.

Agreed, the weather in MA and the weather in the mountains of NH are very different. We drove up from Bedford, MA to Bethel, ME through NH last night. It was 55 degrees and when we hopped in the car at 4:30PM. By the time we hit Franconia Notch it was 32 degrees and friggin' blizzard all the way through Gorham. Temp stayed low and it snowed all the rest of the way here and its 16 degrees right now (in Bethel).
