Anyone play with this for trail riding
You would think 44" would be optimal for trail riding
Heres my deal - No miles on the sleds yet - Dealer has them set up for 44"
Man its a bitch getting these in my covered trailer - Lengthwise is tight enough 10' v - nose but thats not the issue
Width wise i have skis on top of skis - Try crawling up front lifting one ski on top of the other with barely any room because of length - USI Skis dont help either (Wide)
The firecats and zrs are set up 43" - Honestly can you really notice a difference going from 44" to 43" ski stance for trail riding ????
I guess all i can do is wrench and play but just looking for info from others that have changed width
Thanx Scott

Anyone try 42", and if so, is it much easier to flip over?

I ride with the 42 and I can tell you it is a little more tippy them 44, I'm actually thinking of going back to 44...to change the ski stance should only take 15-20 miutes, unless your bolt is bent....

Scott, I have PP's on my crossfire set at 44". I THINK the skis sit high enough that they will automatically go over my C&A firecat skis...otherwise I'll have to narrow it up a bit for trailering...and PP's don't just unbolt like other skis...doh.

Well there on the trailer - Only second time - First time was picking up at the dealer
Anyways , leaving in the morning to find snow in the U.P. :div20:
There set at 44" and maybe i will play and set at 43" when at my hotel
Hopefully there will be snow and no time for wrenching - Still think i will end up at 43" on both sleds
Trailer cover is a bitch to close on the sides
Hopefully at this time tomorrow i will be breaking in the new sleds and hopefully breaking trail :div20:
Thanx for the info guys - Always appreciated :beerchug: :div20: :beerchug: :div20:

Just so you know...Ishpeming, Negaunee, and Marquette area have about 8"-10" of powder on the ground. I think they have more to the west. I also heard Munising has over a foot. However we are getting more everyday, but they are still not grooming trails in Marquette county as of yet.
I picked my new CF8 up on Tuesday and am dying to ride it as well. I did several laps around my sister's field's on Tuesday night. Ended up with 7 miles on the new sled.
Good luck finding snow. If I were you I would head for Gogebic county or up to the Copper Country.

i dont own a xfire but want to, i would set them up for 42 on the trailer and then 43 or 44 for the trails. The only reason whuy i would think of this is width room for the trailer

Hey my .02, set mine up with the 44 inch stance. My 06 X Fire Sno Pro is a little tippy around corners, so it would seem best to set it as wide as possible. After 200 miles on her this week, she doesnt seem to like tight hair pin corners at speed, even with my ass off the seat to the inside. I would make her 44 inches on the trail and 42 inches to carve powder.

FWIW.....I talked with SLP about this exact topic and they said no matter what model sled with an adjustable ski stance that you are installing a set of PP's on(39"/40"/41" mountain sled or 42"/43"/44" trail sled) the best possible set-up is to have the ski's "centered" on the spindle(s). They recommended that a mountain sled should be installed at the 40" position and the trail sled be installed at the 43" position.
Once again, this is not "set in stone" but simply what the ski manufacturer(Starting Line Products) told me in a conversation....

not sure why you guys have that much issue with these, I have 2 sleds in my trailer right now one with simmons and the other with slydogs(both wider than stock skis) and as long as you keep the ski's close to the edge leaving just enough room for the top to come down theres an inch of room in them and the Doos are just as wide as the X-fire. Only overlap sometimes is when loading but thats because I have the ski guidesbuilt in at a tough spot for the struts on the brand I bought.
Changing ski's just to trailer would be a bitch, i'd put 2 peices of 1x3 screwed to the deck on each side for one of the sleds to go up on or 1 peice on each side if they were Simmons.
