Well, hats off to Arctic Cats new 1000 motor.

Picked up new sled today, 5 miles later I got my first tow home. Dealer actually came to get me, which is one benefit of not getting very far. Turns out sled has a blown piston.

Guess $15000 doesn't go as far as it use too. I'm really starting to question if Arctic Cat is gone to hell in a hand basket. The very reason I went with the Crossfire over the F was that I didn't want to chance testing a new chassis and new motor. Well guess it didn't matter.

I tell you, one more problem with AC and they have lost one previously loyal customer. I think that their quality control is NON-EXISTANT. They can't get sleds out on time...they ship sleds with no clutches. Fit and finish is sub par at best. As far as I can see it Made in America = POS. Come on and prove me wrong.

Anybody want 16" of snow, I got a whole bunch of it that I won't need for a while...

that sucks really bad sorry to hear your havin bad luck!

Remember, it is a new motor. Lets just hope it doesn't turn out like the Roseau Dildo.

Did your dealer figure out what caused it to blow? I know my old man had a t-kitten motor go with ~10 miles on it because the oil pump didn't work. Cat took the entire sled back and gave him a new one.

Wow thats some SHITTY luck!!!!! sorry to hear that!

'First year sled' has nothing to do with a blown piston in the first 8 miles. It can happen to any sled, regardless of make/model. If anything is out of spec from production it will usually show up in the first few miles. Unfortunately it does happen, seen it more than once and not partial to any one brand. Should they give you a new sled? No. Should they do WHATEVER it takes to get you on the snow and make it their number one priority....ABSOLUTELY. Shitty way to start the year any way you look at it. Good luck man!!
F-7 Dude

Turns out likely computer/efi problem leaned out motor on one side only, blew the piston through the bottom of the cylinder. They sent pics to Cat today. The figure it will need ecu right on through or it will blow a new motor too...

Dealer has been top notch so far. Said will try to get new sled ASAP.

This was an in stock sled I took in place of my MIA pre-order, so I may get the pre-order after all.

C'est la vie...better now than the heart of the season. Also, rather have new sled now than motor job + later on.

sorry bout your motor.... but your not alone..... and its not just cuz its a new motor..... you were just the chosen victim
Kevin
Yeah this could happen to any sled -- and any brand. The big question is how will your dealer and Cat take care of you?? Also, we can't blame the Americans on this one as the engine was made in Japan. Good luck as you work through this.

Let me get this right
You spring ordered a new sled.
Arctic Cat still hasn't delivered that sled, but the dealer recieved show room (in stock) sleds.
So instead of waiting for yours you took the show room (in stock) sled
First five miles it seizes up tight.
The dealer is busting there ass backwards to keep you happy.

I did the exact same thing and am picking my XF 800 sp up today, the dealer busted there ass to find and "in stock" model and shipped it to there shop. If it blows up, I don't think I'll be as calm as you. I'll be f'n bullshit.

This is why Arctic Cat dealers are dropping there line or going outa buisness.
Everyone of them say "they get no support from the factory" The dealers and aftermarket companies are keeping Cat in business and I don't think Cat's upper management respects that. There all family anyway aren't they????

I've been saying they have to be held accountable.
Something better change with there business pratices or like the first thing they say in business. "every business goes outa business"

Chief, I certainly hope that AC would at a minimum give you a brand new power head, preferably fully dressed. I would not accept a fix as this is a new machine. I had a piston blow on a new 2005 Yamaha HPDI 300HP outboard. Yamaha, gave me a complete fully dressed power head, no questions asked.

True story guys, I was on a cat's pride ride in the black hills back in 1994 and one of the people there blew a motor on his sled and cat flew one in over night and had it installed so he could ride the next morning. I guess different people run the company now. Now that I think about it this happened to me also way back in 1972. I had a pinched impulse line which leaned a cylinder, and the sled lasted less than 10 miles.
