I'm picking an 06 rmk 700...anyone else have the 700 or 900 and any input on first mods? I know I need at the least an slp torque arm and push arm. anyone with useful info your input is appreciated

pipe it....not sure on the airbox, heard mixed reviews....a boss noss system would be cool too

Glad you got a new sled but why the 700 poo. Kinda a boat. Hope you enjoy it though.

Pipe and can ruins warranty because they need a reflash and dont add a whole lot of power either. You need a lot of clutch venting and exhasut venting or you will end up burning $100 belts every couple hundred miles and burning side panels on the exhaust side. Seen it on a lot of those sleds when ran hard and long pulls and such.

Hope you enjoy the sled but there is a reason they discontinued it after a year! :banghead:

I was originally sold on the '06 600 HO for the reasons you state above and because it's 30 pounds lighter, but with a torque arm, push arm, and ample side venting the belt problems are all but eliminated. There's also been some fixes and clutching changes made to 06 700 and 900 that were still for sale at dealerships that further lessened the problem. As far as the weight goes I've alread got some plans for it that will drop about 30-40 pounds off the dry weight. Part of the reason I chose the 700 also is because I'm 6'2 220 lbs and I didn't want to have to mod the 600 much motor-wise to get the power I might need. Thanks for the comments and helpful input is appreciated.

My buddy bought one of those last year...It cost 1500-2000$ to finally get it to run right and stop blowing belts. He had a great dealer that pretty much ate the cost of all the parts. Buy all the slp crap for it including the belt cover. I was pretty surprised how much heat the stock cover held in.

like I said they've made a lot of changes including a different belt but I bought spares and I've order the SLp torque arm, push arm, and vent kit, so we'll see how she goes

Anyway, i dont know if i would do a pipe and can and depending on your dealer they might say your out of luck on the warranty and your sled wont run good unles the programmer is remapped. There arent to many other performance options for it because it was so limited production and not much was to be gained from the motor.

Like you said with the weight thing, the best thing to do once you get it ventilated and running good, then go into dropping weight. Front end and rear end suspensions are good for quite a bit of weight and so is that trunk of a seat. Take all the foam out of the hood and yank the swear bar out for sure and crank up the front shocks.

Dont get me wrong, im not trying to bash polaris, my wife even works for them and i use to ride polaris mod sleds for the simple fact the last few years the stock sleds were crap. Get the weight down and ventilation to the point it might be excessive and your will be happy with the sled for a long time.

I didn't buy this sled with much intention of modding it, quite the opposite really, if I wanted to go that route I definitely would have gone for the 600. I've ordered all the slp clutch and heat related products for this sled, I'll put them on, and if I dont like it still, I'll sell it. Otherwise, I'm gonna rally the piss out of it and probably enjoy every minute. See you guys out there :beerchug:

Aside from the slp stuff I think that's pretty much gonna be the case, till later when I want more power I guess...thanks guys
