what do i need to register my sled in new york. i live in mass. someone informed me i have to send in for something like a application in advance of going up. i would think my,
1) mass registration
2) proof of insurance
3) wallet full of money :smilielol:


would be enough.

With the new system I am not sure ,my guess is reg,ins,ID and $100 or so should do it ??

40 bucks or something like that if you join a club like somewhere in tug hill or any club. BUt if you dont join it is more.

Join a club first then Reg your sled, its $45 to Reg if you belong to a club $100 if you don't.where ever you ride the most join that club :div20:

Overall sounds kinda like a pain, especially if the sled was not registered in NY last year.

DJ here is nys snowmobile association online clubs pick a club in the area you like ot ride and get an application for that club

Maybe there should be a registration process thread that is pinned that will answer all of these questions. Since we are getting closer to the opening date I think that it would be a good idea. Basically, you need the following:

Joining a club process:

Step 1: Join a club in the area you plan on riding. Send in membership dues.

Step 2: Club will send you back a voucher, and membership package. Make a copy of the voucher for your records.

Step 3: Take voucher, proof of ownership and insurance card to the dmv.

Step 4: Register sled at the dmv by paying $45.00 per sled, receive registration document and sticker decals.

Step 5: Place stickers on sled, and registration and insurance card in your riding jacket. Do not leave it in the sled!!

OR - non club member way-

Step 1: Go to dmv, with insurance card and proof of ownership.

Step 2: Register sled, pay $100.00 per sled.

Step 3: Place stickers on sled, and registration and insurance card in your riding jacket. Do not leave it in the sled!!

If you are out of state you can register via postal mail. Not sure if the e-registration is up and running yet.

If your in a hurry, go to the NYSSA web site and find the closest club to you and go to the meeting, pay your $25 and they should give a voucher on the spot. You might want to call the club Sec. first to make sure they give them out at meetings. I know the clubs around here do.
