Full Version: Replacing the oil lines to the engine?

Still working on my 98 Indy 500 project and I was wondering, while I had the carbs and air box off, should I replace the little tiny oil lines that go from the pump to the cylinders? They look aweful brittle and the clips are pretty rusted. If I do this, do I need to do anything else? The main oil line looks great, it's just the little ones that look iffy. Should I just run a tank of premix until the air is bled out? Should I just leave them alone?

Thanks, Daryl

If you decide to replace them, don't buy the Polaris stock lines. I spent $35 at the dealer, figured I was getting a roll of the line, but I didn't even get enough to replace them all on a twin. You can buy line from industrial supply houses, goes by trade name Tyvek, the polyurethane type for fuel/oil. Same places will have small machine screw clamps or wire clamps of the size you need. I prefer the screw type clamps.
