I need a little help try to figure out what is wrong. I had a nasty back fire the other day and it literally stretched the springs out on the exhaust. I replaced all the springs and realigned the exhaust. But it doesn’t seem to run right. It feels likes its chugging and every once in awhile it gives a lil back fire. Does anyone have a clue on what is going on? Thanks for the help

I would do a compression chek 1st thne I would pull the exhaust and inspect the pistons to be sure there is nothing wrong with the pistons n rings 1st..
how old is the fuel in the tank?? it might be worth you're time to drain and flush out the tank and re-fill it with fresh fuel..

Fresh fuel. I just rode over 200 miles on Friday. I think I just need to pull it apart to find out what is wrong.

Could the backfire have screwed up the reeds??
To have actually stretched the exhaust springs it had to be one BIG mofo of a backfire!

I had a similar problem with the same sled... it ended up being that the stator had come loose and was messing with the timing. of course i had to pull it all apart to find this out.....
Definately check your reeds after a backfire like that and while you got them out have a look at the intake side of peeston then pop off the y-pipe and check the exh side.Broken skirt may be the cause.
