Looking for help with two AC sleds (one '98 touring 600 one '96 600) BOTH will not start using electric start on first fire-up. They will pull start , but will not start using the electric. Both turn over quickly (neither one has that weak battery roll over sound) Both are newer batteries, and fully charged (one even kept on a trickle charge all summer). Temps in the mid 30's so it's not even super cold yet.

Here's the kicker...both will start using electric, after the initial pull start and after the sleds are a little warmed up.

Is this normal? Anyone have the same problems with AC electric start? Any suggestions for fixing it? THANKS!!

Sometimes when it's very cold or when I have recently worked on the carbs and the bowls are empty the electric starter won't start it up. The starter won't stay engaged long enough to get a good long crank going. I think it's typically.

UPDATE: We located a tech, after posing this question to several others, who asked us if we turned the key on and off 5 times (without engaging the starter) before trying to actually start it. Evidently the EFI's need to "pre-charge" the ignition when it is cold!?! I question whether it is truely pre-charging the ignition, or has something to do with EFI, but regardless....it works!

Simply turn the key into the on position for 2-3 seconds....repeat 4 more times, and then start it. Go figure. Hope this helps someone else out!.
