Yes,once again I have that annual "itch" of the upcoming sledding season. The prospects of actually riding on Vermont's opener this year looks bleak as of now...I was thinking about the last time I rode the opener or the first weekend after the opener and it was about 10 yrs ago.Unfornately, for me I experienced "Whoopford"and it was muddy but It was riding....Any of you guys remember riding VTbefore X-mas?.......And any guesses to how many new Arctic Cats wil be seen on the VAST trails this winter?...My opinion,I think you will see a lot more Apex sleds than last year.

Usually don't ride before Christmas. You can have alot of broken parts from early riding. My wife has a new F6lxr  Thats at least 1 new Arctic Cat on the trail. The only Yamahas in our fleet are 2 snoscoots.

Last year I rode on opening day, alone, at night. Almost got killed. Flipped off my sled into a stream that the small bridge had washed out. Won't be doing that again anytime soon.

I rode Woodford on opening day for the last three years - I think. Two definitely. All opening days have been great riding.
When I got serious about riding back in 1995, I rode the weekend before x-mas and there had to be 2-3 feet on top of a decent base.
Here's a pic of opening day in Woodford in Dec 05

I think you'll be pleasantly surprized this year not only by all the new Arctic Cats on the trail but with all the snow on opening day.

It seems the cold weather has taken hold in the NEK but,not the snow.Hopefully the snow/snow showers predicted for everyday this week materializes up there.

BTW - I thought the trails opened on Dec. 16th, not the 15th.

Been cold and light snow yesterday and today. My mother has 3 inches so far. Hopefully we will continue to get it, no matter how much it is.

I rode opening day last year...basically all day long. We got a big snow storm that day. I was riding down dirt roads in barre/plainfield because the plows hadnt kept up with them... We got over a foot of fresh snow opening day last year.
I live in Woodbury now, and for the past week it has snowed at my house almost every day/night. We now have about 6 inches in the yard, and its staying because its so cold. I drive 5 miles down the road towards barre, and theres just a dusting. I guess im in the snow belt?
