In Caddy the gates i ran across were US Forest Service, I believe...
To be honest with you, a few more gates would have made for better riding, as lots'0 trails were rutted to shit from trucks in the mud. Ran across several trucks/Jeeps out and about on marked trails yesterday. (If the trails are open and are signed, can we go around the USFS gate and ride on?)

Just about nothing pisses me off worse than seeing trucks driving down the sled trails after the season has started! :banghead: :banghead:
I say take down their plate numbers and report them to the authority's!
While I did not have anytime to do any brushing on the trails this year, it just pisses me off to hear that there are others out there ruining these peoples hard work by riding their trucks and jeeps on the soft trails ruining the trails for the entire season!
Hopefully the groomers will be able to repair the damage before the ground sets up and freezes!

some of the trails that run thru private property are still closed due to the fact of muzzle load season. please respect these gates, we do not want to loose anymore trails.

Is this illegal on combo trails? If not, not much we can do about it... :banghead:

I got a couple calls yesterday about this as well. One guy even rode over to the house to ask me why.I really dont have an answer. The pipeline co and the DNR have the gate keys, we do not.As far as truck traffic goes,I agree 100%,I always take the plate # and call it in to the DNR,if I can, I stop them and also tell them what I think. With the gates closed, we couldnt get a groomer thru anyway. I will check on monday, but it wouldnt hurt for all the governing people involved to get as many calls as possible from trail permit paying riders ! Remember the saying about the squeeking wheel !

Although I don't agree with it, as long as the trail is down a seasonal (unplowed) road, and as long as these vehicles have proper plates, ins. and an ORV. Permit, they are (or were a few years ago) within their legal right to use the trail, EVEN IF IT IS ALREADY GROOMED!!
Any body familiar with the Hoosier Valley Trail in Traverse City, Michigan? besides TB?
Guy that lives, or lived, right across the "seasonal" road from the trailhead was a "wheeler"
As long as its not a seasonal road, then yes, we should be able to do something about it!

I don't like it either - but it is still hunting season and the trucks I saw were guys hunting. They use the same trails we do unfortunately.

The pipelines are not closed for hunting in this case.

IF its a dual use trail ,the appropriate wheeled traffic can be on it with an ORV permit. IF its a seasonal road, anyone can be on it with a sec.of state license. That doesnt make it right, but thats how it is.
