Hello All,
We tried to remove the chain case cover on a 99 XLT Classic but couldn't get to the last bolt. (bottom rear) There’s two tight coolant lines in the way that I also could not get at to remove. I suppose I could get it out by feel but getting it back in is another issue. I don't think there is a drain plug. Right? Any suggestions?
Thanks.
Jim

Use an Allen wrench thru the hole in the bellypan to remove the drain plug that goes up into the chaincase.

There is a drain plug on all Polaris' since 1995.
The bolt on the lower left side is hard to access, but it can be done using a universal joint and some grease in the socket to help it from falling out while lining up the bolt/hole.

Thank you guys. I will go back at it today and remove the plug and drain it the right way. :div20:

Just be careful not to strip the plug.............

Got the drain plug out this morning. Man, it was tight. Like every other nut and bolt on this sled. I'm glad the hole for the wrench was deep for a good bite.
We are still working on the suspension sag. Need a new center shock and spring. Hopefully that will do it.
Thanks again. :beerchug:
