I have an 07 Crossfire 800 SnoPro, I have not had a chance to ride the trails yet with ot but I have started it a couple of times at home, today when I started my sled it backfired, I let it run for a little while, shut it down, started it again and it backfired again.
My 05 F7 used to backfire once and while...no big deal....any reason to worry about my Crossfire backfiring?

You should let your dealer's tech take a look at it before you put on some miles. Might be something simple.

too rich is probably all. (especially during break-in)
what?trail?
probably loaded up from starting it and not riding it

How much gas came in the tank when you picked it up? Alot of dealers dont fill them up or any thing but a few do... and some premix the fuel in the tank with oil for break in. Mine did on my 05 F7.

Make sure you are letting the motor idle down before shutting off. If you are running it on a stand and
you shut it off while the motor is still reving above idle you can cause the motor to load up on unburned
gas. Then the next time you start it, it backfires.

had the same problem, with my c7 last season, but this solution solved my problem. :div20:

I always let the motor idle right down for maybe a minute before I shut down the engine down......thanks for that tip though.

I will hopefully get to ride it shortly and see if the BF'ing goes away...if not I will have to pay the dealer a visit!

Dealer put a few litres of premix fuel in the tank when I picked it up....I filled the gas tank up when I got home with fuel/ oil ratio of 100:1.
