Hey n55sledder- anyone seen a groomer???
Do you have any concept of just how much ice is required to support 8000 or more pounds of groomer??
If you haven't noticed, there is not a trail around Thompson that doesn't cross a swamp or creek somewhere. The local club has been checking ice conditions, but 6-8" of shitty ice just doesn't cut it. We sunk one groomer 5 or 6 years ago when there wasn't enough ice, and we don't plan on repeating that mistake if we can avoid it. When ice conditions are safe, I'm sure it will be out. Until then, I get to ride the same rough trails as you. I don't know if you have been out helping the club do any tree clearing or not, but if you want to help even a little bit, when you and your riding buddies are crossing swamps or lakes, SPREAD OUT and pack down more than a 4 foot wide track. This will help get the swamps frozen enough to get the groomer across.
