We still have 12 days. Maybe it'll work out. Is there any ice as of now? How much is needed to be deemed safe?

We have been on the ice everyday for a week. I'm not sure about the snow but it looks like we will have enough ice to get together. We are hoping to make a final decision on Friday or Sat.

I am new to the site and thinking of driving out there to the Shootout. Once I saw all those Mach ZZZ lined up in the photo from last year I just have to go now. Sounds like a nice bunch of guys on some fast iron. Oh and very little bashing going on , not some other sites. I am in the process of purchacing a Big Thunder kit from Dave but I won't have it in time for the Shootout ($$$). I will order it the first week of Jan I hope. I would still just go and run on motor alone and have some fun. I hope there is enough snow and will have to keep posted on conditions......Will be driving from Mass................Thanks Pat

It looks like we are going to have to push the date back, we have no snow, we are running through the water just to cool our sleds on the ice, There is only about 4 to 6 inches of ice right now with very little cold weather coming, we got together today and decided to push the shootout back, we don't have an exact date yet but will have one soon. We hated to wait so long but the weather man kept our hopes up. If anyone still wants to come and strictly ice race on Sat. let me know and we can get together. Please spread the word to whoever you can that was planning on attending

That will give the F1000 a little more time to get ready to take the crown.

We tested against one yesterday although it was new and not ready to race yet. Because traction was an issue we went from a roll and it was not close, two stock motored machs pulled away. This f1000 had the y-pipe and bulls eyes. Like I said he has some more clutching to do, our machs are good running clutched machs. I don't think this was a real accurate test but if it is anything like yesterday cat is in trouble. This guy is a good tuner I'm sure it will get faster.

If traction was a issue and it wasnt ready to race yet, then how can you say were in trouble? And it wasnt even close? Just curious. Where is the video of the Mach and F-1.....

Read the post again, we went from a 40 mile an hour role where traction would be equal, two stock machs pulled away very bad. We could not race from a dead stop cuz the cat could not hook like we could, so we made it fair and went from a roll, it wasn't pretty. But in defense of the f-1000 it is new and has some bugs to get worked out. Our machs have 11,000 miles between the two and have lots of testing miles so they run good.

It was my F1000 they were beating.

Machs had speed tracks and picks vs F1000 with stock track and trail studs. Even at a roll traction matters!

My sled has 10 miles on it, when I get the clutching figured out it will be much closer.

How did your Machs hold up to my Firecat? Its just a big bore trail sled.....

Yes you're absolutely right, traction matters every where not just at the start!!! Those machines are still spinning the track at 40mph, when you punch it, you can't beat chisels with trails studs!! Been there done that, any real racer knows that!! Especially on ice, with my machine last season(82 blizzard with an 809 tripple in it,pics in Mass.) I was trying to race an rx-1 off a roll like that, he was lowered and chiselled with speed track, and I had stoch 1" lug with 1.175 trail studs, off a roll he killed me, we went as far as a 60mph roll same thing. Then that night I took the track off and put the speed track with chisels on it. The next day this clown wouldn't race me until like mid-day, he just kept bragging how he didn't want to waste his gas, Well he did finally race me, and with a huge audience, In 1320', no lie I beat him by at least 100 yards if not more!!! He went and loaded his sled and left! So yes chisells and a speed track make a huge difference!!! Just my two cents! The gypsy!!
andy670ho
My mach had picks, the other mach had woody's gold diggers. My Mach with my trail track does not spin at 40 mph roll, Todd, I think it was your clutching not traction when we went from a roll. I believe your sled will get faster but on that day it was not ready. I say next trip you put a chisel track on it so we can gauge it better. Or better yet, you race phil with his trail track against your trail track, actually phil had his trail track on. Anyways can't wait for you guys to come back up, it was alot of fun. Without topics like this how would we justify being in the garage 12 hours a day! At least thats what I tell my wife!!!

I havent had any energy to work on the crap since its so warm I could mow the lawn.....

I did take my Firecat appart and order all the parts for that... That hurt the wallet......

The F1000 is my trail sled and will not get a speed trak.... Thats why the firecat (speed track and chissels) has went to lake duty only!

I'll be back!
andy670ho
Todd, I will put picks up here later of the lake, this sucks.
