I would do the 05 and for 300 bucks you can get holz spindles or another band and it will make it steer easier. I have 2600 miles on mine and only blew one belt but I have done a clutch kit and geared it down since I blew the belt. I have done fire n ice air box and slp pipe and can this year and have not ridin it yet since there is no snow here yet. But with the slp tuning I start it up once and it will stay running now vs having to start it up twice previous to the tuning. Think I have about 1500 into it. and I paid 11,000 for mine. I also have a boondocker EFI but that is going to wait till this summer just becuase the way you have to take stuff off just to get it hooked up and if it snows I do not want to have it half torn apart in the mean time. And I do like it...........and who ever says that it is a vibrating pig..........get over it is a big engine. Just bought a 07 1000 ski doo and it vibrates just as much. It doesn't bother me though cause I like the power that they have and that is what I want.

I would get the '06. SEVERAL improvements over the '05, the most notable being the relocation of the jackshaft. The '05 has the secondary mounted way up high, which would pull the engine upward under heavy loads. For '06, it was moved down some to pull in a direction the motor mounts were much more easily able to resist.

Plus, that means less rotating mass (shorter chain) and rotating mass lower in the chassis. The '05 chaincase is HUGE.

I would go for the 06 for the extra cash. It has lots of upgrades over the 05 - even in the motor - different pistons etc

I have an 05 that has less than 2000 miles on it. The motor had to be rebuilt along with numerous other problems (recalls as well).
