I have a 99 zrt 800 and some clicker shocks off a 98 zr 600.
The Valving on the 600 is much softer than the 800zrt.
Can I just swap the valving out of my zrt shocks and put them in the zr clicker bodies to get a stiffer shock ?

Or even just take the clicker and the cap off the 600 and put it on the zrt 800 body ?

The lengths are the same I believe.

Im sure Im not the first one to try this. what will the effect be.

If you send both sets of shock to avidsuspensions, they will cross bread the two into what will work perfectly. They will remove the base cap off of your 800 pull, out the ifp, rebuild the shock, install the base cap and clicker from the 600 on your 800 body, and recharge it. Then if you want they can put the ifp inside the 600 body but the cap on that shock rebuid and recharge, and now you have a spare set of shocks.
they will do what ever there customers want and are very easy to work with. check them out avidsuspensions.com

Been doing my own shocks for about a year. this saves me about $500 a year with all the sled I have to maintain. when I get int a jam I usualy have my local guy (shock Ed) do them.

Spare shocks are nice to have around though. never have too many shocks.

I m more curious about the differances in valving between clickers and regular Fox shocks. How does the extra oil and clicker body effect the valving of a stock 99 zrt shock ?

Shock valving is more af an art than a sience.

The extra oil in the clicker body has no effect on the stock valving. It only increases the cooling capacity so it runs a little cooler. The clicker gives you the option of making the compression up to 30% stiffer than the stock valving as you turn the knob to the higher numbers. I can do the swap for you as well. I have been rebuilding shocks for nine years.
