I bought a Garmin Terex and all I can do is see where I have been and then save the "track". Can anyone help me with what software to buy for it and how to map out a plan for the day. I don't care where I have been as much as where I want to go.

Check out the dedicated "GPS" subforum, located within the "Other Snowmobile Forums" off the General Forum. At a minimum you'll need Garmin's Mapsource software on you PC, plus a detailed map package such as US Topo or City Navigator.

What eTrex model do you have?

Definately US Topo :div20: Has excellent detail-almost all secondary roads and alot of logging roads in the UP.

I finally got it out last night and I have a legend, so if someone can tell me where to get the right maps to load, I would appreciate it.

Does it have a color screen? If so, you can order Garmin's Topo map set. I also use City Select for in the car. You can buy them on Garmin's site, Amazon, or lots of other places.

If you don't have the color screen, you can't use those maps, but you can record your own tracks or load up tracks from other people.

I would go with US Topo...you can get it for around $80 from online vendors or eBay.
