6-10 possible they are saying, so we should all hope for atleast 2 inches max. Even though we cant hit up the trails im surprised that no one is commenting on the snow thats is "forecasted"`
F7_SNO_PRO
Shhhhhhhhh! If we talk about it, it may go away.

While my sleds are pointing out the door and the snowblower is ready...I'll believe when I see it. Just wish the ground would have been froze up more.

4 degrees F. when i got up this morning, 50 degrees yesterday! a 46 degree drop is a good thing!! maybe the ground will finally freeze up here so any snow we get will stay on the ground.

Theres a hotline you have to call for Waukesha Cty.......usually you can go if there is atleast 6" and below 35 degrees they are open but its still hunting season so they might be closed.............

That is a good thing! I could not imagine the problems that would be caused by poor ice conditions and a dumping of snow around here. I am guessing they would have to come up with alternate routes around all of the lakes that the trails cross which may be impossible. I remember a number of years ago my parents lake in Wautoma had a little ice and they got a ton of snow in December and the lake was unsafe all year. Even the crazy ice fishermen would not go out so it must have been really bad.

Does SE Wisconsin even have frost in the ground?
jerdman852
a guy at a local dearler, here in kenosha co. told me the trails don't open until dec.15?
Dardevil3
Thank God! He answered my prayers!

I was about to slap this lady at the bar last night that kept saying... "there is no way that snow is gonna reach us, blah blah blah"

Racine/Kenosha counties will not have trails open in this snow. Believe it or not, they dont have all the trail markers out because some of the farmers actually have corn in the fields the trails go through. And since we have an extended hunting season, they wont open them until it ends. Good thing me and the boys have over 250 acres around here to bomb around on!

Thinking of making a race track today!

Wow, way more than I thought. I went out this morning for a breakfast meeting with some co workers at Mineshaft and by the time I got out my car was covered with a lot of snow. So, got home and did some plowing for us and the nieghbors! Looks great but the sleds are up north snowfall.gif

But, we'll have fun when the kids get home from school.
Coles_55

you can thank the fucking dnr and thier stupid hunting regulations :banghead: :banghead:
Gettin2Old
10 inches of snow, on ground that is still soft & spongy. Exactly how long do you think this would last before you were riding in mud? The trails would be wrecked for almost the entire winter if they got traffic on them in this condition.

It is a bit more than the DNR prohibiting this early riding, Common sense is another item.
Never Satisfied
I was told Rock county is open today
Coles_55
No county trails are open in the entire SE part of Wi, i called 6 county snow condition hotlines and all are the same...closed due to farmers or hunting. I hate this state sometimes@!
Never Satisfied
I heard they were riding in Brodhead????????? I can't ride anyway this W/E.

trails in waukesha were groomed. past the groomers a couple times...
law651
Just because the trails are groomed, does not mean they are open. Clubs need to get the trails ready. With the trail being groomed it will give the trail a chance to freeze down if people stay off.
Our club usually grooms the first 8in we get. Trails do not open. Unless the season is almost over. We wait for the next good snowfall and groom again, give it a day or two and open. Trails will be bullet proof if they get frozen down good. Will make a great base. Our trails last longer than anyone elses in the area. actually much longer, and end up having a much deeper base come spring. mike

Yes, pretty funny my wife was laughing also! She said better that I broke it and not her for once! I think we got around 9-10" here, the kids are having a ball! And I don't have any sleds here so no fun for me, just some donuts with the ATV when the roads where covered! :div20:

Yes, they do such a great job up here! I really think we should make them a not a goverment company! I bet it would work better for all! That don't have a clue for many things in my experince with them. But, you have to be nice to them otherwise they think they are GOD up here!
Polarisluke7
Actually called the WI DNR office in Eagle WI yesterday and all the trails are OPEN in the Southern Kettle Moraine State forest area, was advised to check with local club and County officials. Rode 50 plus and every trail I trail that led to a Walworth County trail had a gate accross, but the State trails were fun. The deer hunt is still on so you might see some orange. Was in Burlington this morning and the groomers were out and it is calling for cold all week so we will see.

That is great news Luke! I drove down to IL yesterday for work xmas party and I saw a bunch of sleds on the trails as I was heading south, I think Racine, Kensoha area trails looked like! I was bummed, it looked like fun to me! :div20:
Never Satisfied
Where is the best place to unload in that State Forest area? Also, when does Walworth open?
Coles_55
Also interested in where to unload.................
1badHO
Walworth County may open next week. I find it really funny how some of you guys bitch about the trails not being open. We still have trails to mark, and this weather isn't helping. Don't get me wrong I love the snow, but try marking trails in it. The extended deer hunt and farmers still getting crops out has hurt us.

Ya know, how many of you guys bitching belong to a club, and if you do, how many help mark the trails? They just don't magically appear........................LOL
Coles_55
Well you guys should get your asses out there sooner to make sure you dont have this problem. Kinda harda to mark the trails now when you have 10" of snow and frost in the ground.

Why were you and you club guys out there when it was 50-60 degrees the past 3weeks ago???
Vince
