Environment Canada's Official Weather Warnings
Warnings
Upper Gatineau - Lièvre - Papineau
4:45 AM EST Friday 1 December 2006
Snowfall warning for

Upper Gatineau - Lièvre - Papineau issued

20 to 30 centimetres of snow are expected over these regions as of
this morning over western Québec, this afternoon or this evening for
the central and eastern regions.

...A stormy beginning for December...An intense low pressure system
from southern Great Lakes will move up toward the New England this
evening. This system will bring a mix bag of precipitations over the
province of Québec today. 20 to 30 cm of snow will fall on regions
north of the St Lawrence Valley as of this morning. This area of
heavy snow will move toward central and eastern Québec later today or
tonight.

Near the St Lawrence Valley, a warm front associated with the low
pressure system will bring significant quantities of freezing rain as
of late this morning. At the beginning, precipitation will be mostly
in the form of rain or snow that will change into freezing rain when
temperature will drop just below the freezing mark.

South of the warm front, the regions along the american border, will
receive mostly heavy rain. But if the storm changes track, the
position of this front should move further north and rain should
reach more regions of southern Québec.

All will be accompanied by brisk northeast winds that will be high
near Québec city this evening.

I was on the railroad bed on saturday(with my truck) installing speed limit signage near cottages. It is imperative for us to respect those speed limits if we want to keep sledding on the railroad bed.

As for the snow, not quite enough. The gates are not opened yet.Probably not before december 15.
