Anyone hear of any significant amounts of snow anywhere across the state.... I am itching to ride somewhere but it doesn't seem like we have any luck finding any snow... Where is a good place to get a nice north dakota trail map... Not from around here that much and last year i had a really good one from BKG Motorsports but they don't have any sleds anymore so i am wondering where i could pick up a nice one... Hope to see you guys on the trails... :div20: :celebrating:

I live in Cavalier....not enough snow yet......but out west like out at langdan i would give a try :div20:
flyboy103
I'm in Edmore, 30 miles south of Langdon. If you really wanted to ride the North/South road ditches blew in pretty good today, but I haven't been out yet. It sounded like NW of us might be rideable.
big_bear35
Yeah i hope that we get some good snow here at least before christmas would be nice... Need to have a white Christmas or it isn't really Christmas it doesn't seem..... Yeah i was up by Cavalier two years ago and it was perty decent ridign up there in the gorge and everything.... we rode around wahala and everything it was perty fun riding.... Also rode in the Turtle Mountains two years ago as well... Hopefully you guys get some snow up by cavalier soon so me and 4 other guys can come up and get a few miles on before we head out west... just to make sure everything is running good after the long summer break.... Thanks :div20:

I live in Minot we didnt get shit. But Lignite I heard got 10in and bowbells got 7-8in.

Hey big bear do you guys ride much around fargo at all? I might be moving there next fall for school and looking for some riding partners if I do.
big_bear35
:div20: :beerchug: Hey V-Max... yeah we ride around this area when we have snow to ride on... The trails are really not that bad i am use to So Dak trails and they are marked better than up here but once you find some of the signs and stuff on a few day rides you get use to the occasional sign that is unmarked... Usually head south out of Horace and then head south to Wahp and then back around... usually a hundred miles or better and it usually has a few good tree lines to cruise in.... Yeah if you move over here and are going to NDSU or wherever look me up we ride as much as we can when there is snow...
jweiers84
would it be worth driving up from grand forks to wahalla or around there? my bro has a new sled and wants to break it in a little before we head to the mountains.
high5
We have a little mabe 3-4in with more in the trees. Powdery with no base so its kinda rough going. But if you need your fix this is probably the spot to be. Lakes and hayfields are good mowed ditches youll have to hound-dog around.

I live in Carnduff,SK approx hour and a half north of Minot .I'm located about 8-10 miles north of Sherwood on the Canadian side and you can ride any where you want around here most ditches are full and so is the stubble,I'm going out tomorrow and there has been a lot of sleds out,I don't think anyone would be dissapointed especially for dec 1

I have heard 8-10" in the cavalier, walhalla, lake bronson area, is this true? Me and a couple people might come up there and put some miles on sunday to break in my sled a little bit if it is.

I've heard there's some decent snow up at Metigoshe; Turtle Mountain area. Anyone around that area or knows any proof of that? We usually park our rigs up at Boundry Lake and hit the trails from there...

If they have rideability, myself and probably a couple buddies will make a trip up there in a couple weeks (Christmas break) and do some riding. I'm getting an itch as well... biggrinsanta.gif

Finally getting some snow here in Fargo... Not to much but it is a sign that winter is coming and snow is on the way.... I am itching to do some riding here in the next weekend or so and was wondering what the situation was around the state.... I would like to hear something about Cavalier or Wahala... Turtle Mts. ain't bad either... Just would like to get a few miles on anyways... Got quite a few rookies with my group this year and would like to get them going perty soon before we head out to the hills.... taz.gif xmas-smiley1.gif :santa_finger:

My dads uncle has a lakeside cabin (S/SW side). The cabin itself is completely shot, but we found the area to be a good starting point anyway. There is a guy that lives at Boundry that runs a dog team all the time..."our" cabin is right next door. If you ever see a Chevy crewcab pickup with a black car trailer parked at Boundry Lake, it could easily be our crew.
millermx21
Any word on how much snow is at Lake Metigoshi?

Is it rideable?

If so anyone from Minot wanting to go up this weekend.

99ZR500
As of last weekend a guy could ride the ditches from about oslo on up north, I didnt get much farther north then about warsaw but I called a few bars up in the walhalla and turtle mountian area and they all said between 8-10 which would make for some half decent riding for this time of the year. But who knows about all this with the up comping 30 degree weather they are talking about! Bastards...
ax600
word has it that wallhalla ,grafton,st Thomas, cavaleer all have great riding conditions. I'll be going over there on sunday to break in my new sled.Leo
ax600
I just got back from riding  . I unloaded at Grafton and road to st thomas, hamelton, and cavaleer.
the snow is awesome, and the ditch banging is as good as it ever get's in this area. I also rode to Minto without any problems. If you want to put on a few miles this is the place to go. I put on 104 today.Leo

Anyone make it up to Walhalla yet this year?? Just checking on the gourge and to see if there is decent snow in that yet... Two years ago when i was up there it was perty fun cruising around there. I would like to get some miles on the sled this year and it seems to be hotter down here than anything most of the time... Anyone hear of anything about the Turtle Mtns. yet??? Thanks :beerchug:

big_bear35
Thanks Leo... i will have to get the guys together and head up there soon... Need to get some miles on. That seemed to be perty fun driving on the trails up there... Hope to see some guys out on the trails... Doesn't sound like there are many places around that have decent snow... Fargo we have about absolutely nothing the past two days it has been unseasonably hot.... 45 in december just isn't right that is october temps... Thanks
99ZR500
well i rode up by edinberg yesterday and in grafton today and it was great up untill i hit a culvert that was no shit about 3 feet from the edge of a field my right ski was hittin dirt.. i mean what the fuck who puts a culvert right there.. im prayin the bulkhead aint bent and i just need the a arms and a tie ride but we will see when i start tearin it down this week.. what fucking luck is that.. the thing has like 48 miles on it... FUCK
ok im done ranting.. for now..

edit: leo, do you have any of these parts by chance?
ax600
I will have the a armb's if you messed up the left side. and for sure I will have all of the tie rod's, as well as ski saddles if thoes got bent. Hit me up with a pm when u figure out what it will take to get you running again. Laiter out
big_bear35
Shit ZR500 i am sorry to hear that... who the hell does put culverts around there like that... i know there are a lot of things that a guy has to look out for up here that aren't marked as well as down in so dak... i noticed the damn turning signs are not marked very well and last year i just about knocked one of those out took a piece of my ski with it but nothing to major... just pissed.... Hope you get her running again and nothing to major is wrong... other than that was it decent at least up there... worth about a 5 hour trip or not?? got some friends back home that want to ride and it takes about 2 or 3 to get to fargo and i figure at least 2 or 3 to get up north... just checking.. thanks :celebrating:
99ZR500
Worth a 5 hour drive? Maybe last week or saturday, with all this warm weather I dont think it would be worth the drive. We had a blast playing in drainage ditches and whatnot, but yeah next weekend I doubt there will be much of anything left.
F7arcticcat
i hope there is some left by friday, im going to grafton then...if temps are gonna be around 33-34 i would think there would still be some pretty decent snow left
99ZR500
I would go farther north if you can man, I could tell the differance in snow big time from when we got there sunday morning to when we left sunday night, i know there was a lot more snow up north to begin with so they should have more yet.
big_bear35
I can't beleive this damn hot weather.... Who would have guessed on that.. This is terrible it is almost christmas and i haven't even gotten the sled out to turn the track other than up on the stand going through the maintenance... I can't beleive what shit luck we are having up here.... I guess it isn't just here but it is really warm out for the most part... Rained last night a little down here... Have any of you guys heard anything on the turtle mountains... Did Bottineau get the same amount of snow as up by grafton or do they have more... Thanks :div20:
F7arcticcat
well i guess we';ll probably end up going to cavalier. were the ditches drifted in or on the level??
99ZR500
A lot of them were drifted in. Before going up there I would give a few bars or something in the area a call and ask them how the snow is. I would feel bad if you drove all the way up there to find no snow.

Mike
f5patriot
where is a good place to stay in the cavalier or walhalla area
ltrbuck
Cedar Inn in Cavalier or the Walhalla Inn in Walhalla
bigtoyz
What does it look like up in the Bottineau area..........thinking of heading up there and see that it was alright up there with more snow in the area. Can one go up into canada or is it a hassle to sled across the boarder?

Patrick
NDMtnSledder
In the past its always just been like a 5 or 10pass to get into canada and an ID I don't know how the laws have changed though as I haven't been up there in a few years. Give the Quilt Inn a call they should know.
bigtoyz
Thanks I'll check it out. Anything on snow up there?

Patrick
big_bear35
I know last time I was in the Turtle Mnts we were going to go up into Canada but it was going to cost us i think 20 bucks a day or else a 100 bucks for the weekend... I knew it was ungodly stupid ass high and that you didn't want to cross over into Canada because they had the patrol out watching it..... Ever since the crack down on the borders it was just a pain in the arse... I know it was the same way when we were up on the border by Wahlalla it was a joke and they said not to go up there or else you would get a healthy fine or possibly impound on your sled.. I am not sure if this is all true it could be the locals playing a prank on me but scared me enuff not to try it i guess.. :div20:
F7arcticcat
went up to cavalier today from grand forks, the riding was decent. the snow wasnt soft soft, but wasnt hard. riding on the east side of town was much better than the west. i forgot the camera, but if you wanna get a first ride in they have snow!!!
big_bear35
Anyone been out this week at all yet.... It has been warm down here just checking around and seeing if it is warm anywhere else.... I hope for the best on the snow that is suppose to be coming this week but i won't be betting on anything until the white starts falling and the green starts disappearing.... Just checking to see if anyone has been out at all.... Thanks  :beerchug: :celebrating: :div20:

I jumped in the pickup and took a road tour up around Milton, Osnabrock, Walhalla, west of Cavalier and Crystal to check on the snow conditions up north. There is enough snow to do some riding....nothing cross-country but by picking a route along ditches and shelterbelts a guy should be able to get some miles on. I plan on going up that way either tomorrow or Saturday and again right after Christmas....I NEED to ride :div20:
DeerHuntr
Are you guys still able to ride in the Cavalier area?????? Is it good enough to justify a trip from Fargo or would i just be wasting my time????? Thanks
