My cat dealer told me that one of the updates for the 99 zr 700 was a different cdi box just wondering if any did the update and if they noticed and difference.....i priced one and they are a bit on the steep side just wondering if it is worth spending the cash thanks again for any posts to help me..... ylsuper.gif

The update actually retards your timing a litttle bit. I didnt do it to my 99 ...tigger

The CDI updated was done N/C from AC, I would think it still falls under the freebie catagory.............ask your dealer.
It makes em safer on the top end if you've jetted down / changed to the updated needle position, IMHO it's worthwhile and should be done.
I've seen a couple of brand new updated ones on E-bay from time to time and priced pretty reasonable.

Before I had mine done, the sled ran like shit on the low end, fouled plugs at least once a day, etc. now, she runs smooth, and pretty clean, she's still jetted very fat, but, after some mods, should run really good. get your clutch done, that is the biggest problem with the beast now. I get like 100 mi to a tank of gas, with lots of hammering on it, so the gas milage is pretty good on this end.....

Get it done...the CDI...it is a free change up and could be done already. These had a tendency to do the el seizo in the mid range with the old cdi. The new CDI works way better across the whole range. I have an old CDI here if any one needs one. Have your dealer check the tp sensor, these can be out and were a problem on the 99 model.
